היום ראשון יערך מרתון הגשות נושאי מחקר של עבודות הסיום של הקורס. בגלל ריבוי העבודות, אנא הקפידו על מלוי הכללים שאני שולח 1. לכל קבוצה (או בודד) יוקצו 10 דקות בדיוק להצגה, אשר יחולקו ל0 - 5-7 דקות סרט שיוכן מראש ויוצג. הסקט יכיל (1) נושא (2) מקורות שמתבססים עליהם (3) מטרות המחקר הקון 3-5 דקות, דיון והערות 2. כל קבוצה תסמן בטופס .https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1K3AJR8qsnOmIHCMu3zD5YmFBpGLwpUsNaUuwF6AnqsQ/edit?usp=sharing את הסלוט המתאים לה (השתדלו לסמן באופן רציף על מנת למנוע "חורים" 3. את הסרטים יש לשלוח (נםתח "תרגיל" שמיועד לזה) עד ליום ראשון בשעה 8 בבוקר 4. חובה להגציג, אם לא יכולים להגיע, התקשרו בזום (רצוי שלא) |

FPGA exercise - Latency issue

Hello everyone, As some of you pointed out, there is a bug in notebook 3, and the latency is not properly calculated. To make lemonade out of lemons, we will change things about the grading and add a small bonus: 1. You will be judged on accuracy and throughput only, not latency. If you tried to optimize with the current (incorrect) latency metric, do not worry; it will help with the throughput metric, so no time has been wasted. 2. For a bonus of 2 points to the exercise, add a cell to notebook 3 explaining what the mistake was in words and how latency should be calculated (you can do so with words, pseudocode, or even actual code that does not need to run). Just to be clear, if you already did the assignment on board, there is no need to re-run anything, just that if you want the bonus, add the cell to the notebook and resubmit. Thanks all, Yuval |

Final project proposal submission

A dedicated submission for the final proejct proposals is open. After the lecture in the next week (05/07), we will allocate time to discuss your projects with you 1 on 1, we strongly recommend you come physically, share your ideas and consult with us, so we can recommend any changes prior to the submission of the project proposals. FPGA exercise - week 2

Hi everyone, Today will be the second FPGA workshop, same as the first one, with individual teams working on the exercise. Some reminders and notes: 1. Those who have the board from the previous week must return it today, so that we can hand out the boards for the upcoming week, as it is fully booked, so no one can extend their borrowing currently. 2. Anyone who has any logistical issues with this, please contact uyuval.mandelatcampus.technion.ac.il immediately. 3. As mentioned, we will have a later time for you to complete any work you will require, and you can continue development without the board as much as you like. 4. Those who will attend today to use the board, I remind you to have the training and synthesis for the two given models done before the workshop. 5. Those of you who want to work on the exercise without the boards in the workshop, you are welcome to, I will go around to help and answer questions. 6. Those of you who have not signed for any time with the board, please do so by Wednesday evening, as I will need to schedule groups who need a second round after you sign. Thanks everyone, Yuval |

FPGA exercise update

Hi everyone, Unfortunately, we have discovered today that there are not enough boards. We presumed there were 10, but there are only 6 :( Because of this, instead of having 2 groups, each with 2 weeks, we will have 4 groups, and each will have the board for only 1 week. To compensate for the lost time with the board, we will reduce the requirements so instead of developing 2 models (one for accuracy and throughput, and one for resources and latency), we will ask you to develop a single model focusing on accuracy, throughput, and latency, with resources only limited by what the FPGA can hold. It should be noted that only the testing needs to be done on boards; everything on Lambda can be done without it, and running the notebooks on Lambda should still give you reports on how the model is doing on the 4 metrics, so you can still easily develop your models. Updated notebook files will be released today. On a personal note, I apologize that it has come to this and am disappointed because I designed the exercise to be more extensive and for you to get more experience with the physical board :( 2 final notes: 1. Because of the lack of boards, we have SD cards to match, so even if you don't bring any. I do remind you that an Ethernet cable and micro-USB power supply (simple charger) are required. Contact me if you can't find any. 2. I updated the Excel file with new tables for the 4 groups. Please resign to them. Those who have an issue with the new timeframes, please contact me, and we will see what can be done. You will still have time after the 19th of July, and before if there are free boards, to finish things if needed. FPGA exercise released (partially)

Hello everyone, The FPGA exercise (HW 2) has been released, with you being able to do the first part (training and synthesis). Because of a lack of PYNQ boards, we will have two time slots for you to have the boards. Please fill in your team's details in the following link to choose when you would like to get the board: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Tt9AAwAi3GrspH7FMuFXiQDYCjXOBUUN1Dx9w-gncbQ/edit?usp=sharing The first time slot will start next week in the tutorial, 21/6/2026, and we will have a workshop in which you will run the models onboard. Those who plan on starting on this date and doing the workshop, please run the first two notebooks to have trained and synthesized models ready to run. Training and compiling can take 30-90 minutes for each model, and we don't want you to wait to use the board in the workshop. After this, you will have the board for 2 weeks, and then you will be required to bring it back for the round of teams. The second round will start on 5/7/2026, will also start with a workshop (and training and synthesis is required before that), and will last 2 weeks. This round is especially recommended for students in Miluim as the flexibility should be higher. Teams that will require more time with the board can receive it after the two rounds, depending on the number of available boards. If we have free boards in either round and see there is a requirement, we will give the teams more time. Feel free to contact Yuval for that. Teams that will not bring boards back on time, without given approval by the staff to do so, will receive penalties that will affect their grade. Please be considerated to your other classmates. The board kits don't include the required micro-USB power supply and Ethernet cables, and only some include SD cards. Please have this equipment ready for class. If you can't get access to this equipment, please contact Yuval, and we will see what we can do. Here is a link on how to connect to the lambda server: https://aihpc.cs.technion.ac.il/connection-to-lambda/ If you are connected outside of the Technion, a VPN connection is required. On the left, there is a sidebar with more info on how to use Lambda and how to connect to it via VS Code, for those who prefer it. I recommend trying to connect, even with a simple SSH command, just to make sure you have access. 3. Those of you who did not fill out the form until this morning, to not spam the IT people, I will send another batch of usernames tomorrow at 10 AM to include those who added today. If you still have not filled out the form, please do so as soon as possible so you can start working on exercise 0. Thanks |

Lambda Access Form - Reninder

Hello everyone, Those of you that have not filled the Lambda access form (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1pBjsGqAcT1Mbmc-aw2ipoqI4f1IYR-mhqcCeCVM2gYw/edit?usp=sharing) are required to do so as soon as possible. For the CUDA assignments, we welcome you using other GPU resources if you have access to them, but do be aware that they will be tested by us with Lambda. In the form, the most important column is the technion Email address. Does that do not have a technion email address for whatever reason, please send an email to uyuval.mandelatcampus.technion.ac.il and we will try to find a solution.
