Hi all, I hope you and your families are all safe and well. As you all know, due to the war all the Moed B exams were postponed. However, I received a request to hold an exam before an official date is set. Therefore (please read carefully): - There will be a Moed B exam on ***15.11.2023, 9:00*** - If you wish to attend it, please write to me by next Wednesday (8.11) with your name and ID, and I will confirm you can attend. - If you don't attend it, there will be *another* Moed B at some point in the future, when things calm down. - You are **not allowed** to attend both Moed B's. Just one. This is regardless of whether you attended Moed A or not. You're welcome to email me if you have any questions (administrative or on the material). In hope of calmer times soon, Shaull |

Exam A Grades | |

Hi all, The exam and final grades are online. Computation of the grade: - As an exercise grade, I took the best 3 exercises, instead of the average of all 4 (due to the strike that messed up the exercise size and schedule). - The computation of the final grade is as described in the Syllabus page. Comments about the exams: - The exams were generally very good, and even the mistakes were usually due to overlooking something, or simply going in the wrong direction with a proof attempt. - Due to the above, I gave a factor of +10 points (capped at 100). - In Q4, if you used an NBW, please see Section 14.2 in my notes, where it is shown why this fails. I will send the marked notebooks for scanning on Sunday, once they are scanned I'll publish an appeal policy. |

Hi all, Some information about the exam: - The exam will take place on ***Wednesday, 12.7.23, at 9:00 in Ullmann 701***. - The duration of the exam is 3 hours. - Instructions for the exam (this is also written on the exam itself): -- Answer questions 1 -- 4 -- Read each question carefully. There are some important notes and clarifications. -- You may use without proof any result we have seen in class. -- You may NOT use any external material. -- Use a blue or black pen only (not a pencil and not a red pen). - Notes about the exam: It has 4 questions. You need to answer them. When it says to prove something, prove it. When you need to construct something, define it explicitly and precisely. If you're not sure whether you need to write something, either write it just to be on the safe side, or ask me. I'll be around. If you have any questions, feel free to email me. Good Luck! |

I want to do this in a way that is best suited for as many of you as possible. Hi all, Ex1 has been graded and the feedbacks are available. Some notes: 1. Please read the feedbacks carefully. In particular, they are useful to understand the level of detail/formality I expect in a solution. 2. Keep in mind that my marking is not super careful, and I may have missed things (i.e., I'm covering myself for the exam, where my marking will be far more careful). 3. There was a small mistake that nearly everybody made: in the omega-regular expression, we need to initially eliminate empty and epsilon expressions that appear under \omega (see feedback). |
