You may submit an appeal for HW4 if the zip file you sumitted passes the final_check script. Please download the zip from the website to make sure you are using the correct file. The appeals are intended for cases where one minor error caused many tests to fail. 3-5 points will be taken off for any added\removed\changed line (depends on the change). The appeal should look as follows: IDs: ID1-ID2 (please mention both, or state explicitly if you submitted alone). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In file ... line ...: add/remove/replace: old line of code below/above/with: new line of code Explanation: short expalantion (up to 2 lines) of the reason for the change. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After these changes, the following previously failed tests will pass: 1, 5, 17,24 (for example). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please make sure you only describe changes with respect to the zip file you submitted (again, you can download it from the website). You can download the tests and your results from gr. Use the run_test script to run your tests. The *Tets.cpp files in that directory contain the tests that were used. You may use them for debugging. Since declaring usernames as const arguments to the memcache functions have caused a lot of confusion among you, the function declarations have been slightly modified. Username arguments are no longer declared as consts. For those who already implemented these functions, it should not be a problem to adjust them. Anyway, if any of you face such problems or have any questions regarding this, do not hesitate to ask. The PDF is updated in the assignments section. |

HW3 Important Clarification | |

Pay attention that you are not supposed to refer to a block as a defined struct that contains relevant fields (size, username, etc.). You must refer to it simply as a block of bytes in the memory which contains some meta-data in the exact specified order and the data part which will be available to the user. You can then manipulate these bytes using pointer arithmetic as stated in the PDF document. The automatic tests we will run on your program will check, as well as other many things, that you maintain blocks and their data in the memory exactly as expected. Generally speaking, we noticed that many of you are missing little but important points regarding the implementation of the memory system, and the solution of the homework in general. Not paying attention to every detail in the requirements might unfortunately cost you points, so please do. |

Since tests' running time might be too long, you are allowed to change the size of the cache from 2^16 to 2^10. If your code is well written, it shouldn't be more than a modification in a macro value. Notice that the functionality of the system must not change. This solution will allow you to write the memcache tests in one file only, so try to avoid splitting them into several files. |

Unit tests for memcache | |

Tests for the memcache ADT might take a very long time to execute since we are working with 2^16 sized array. The problem appears when executing the tests in valgrind. For some of you, the execution time under valgrind might exceed the CPU limit given to a single user in t2. In order to solve this, you are allowed to separate the memcache tests into several files, each containing one or more test functions. Every file of these should be named "memcache_TESTNAME_test.c", where TESTNAME is a descriptive name you give to the tests in the file. |

The windows 64-bit library in the ex3 folder was mistakenly replaced by a windows 32-bit library. The issue was fixed. |

A small technical change have been done in the ex3.zip folder (both in the site and in t2). The Set ADT you are asked to implement was renamed to MySet, and the corresponding files are now my_set.h and my_set_example_test.c. Pay attention also for the similar change in the example_submission.zip folder. This has been done since the naming of the set implemented by you collides with the naming implemented in the static library provided by us. |

The grades for HW1 were published. You’ve received feedback on your submission from both our manual and automatic checks, along with the tests used for the automatic check. To download your feedback zip file, login at grades.cs.technion.ac.il, then go to "Homework" and click the arrow with black background in the row of HW1. We’ve also uploaded the grading key. In case you lost points in the manual check, the manual_check_results.txt file (inside the feedback zip file) will refer you to one or more “error codes” defined in the grading key. There was a mistake in the file cacheTest.c in testCache2 function , Oranges that were created as expired were treated as not expired and oranges that were created as not expired were treated as expired. the fixed test file is now available in the assignment section and in the T2 server. Most common major mistakes were: * submitting files with wrong names (any name other than part1.c and mtm_buggy.c) * placing the files inside an inner directory in the zip file. Students with these mistakes shouldn't have passed the final_check script. We highly recommend you to use the provided final_check script before submitting future assignments. Common minor point reductions were typically due to bad memory handling. Please make sure you follow the exact submission instructions in future assignments.
