For those of you for which this is relevant, the grades for Moed C were published. There was a factor of 4 points. Unlike regular tests, the notebooks will not be scanned. If you wish to see your test and appeal come to Omer's reception hour (Wednesday 16:30-17:30, Taub 519) or contact me by mail to set up a different time. If you have any questions, contact Omer by mail, phone or come to my office whenever I'm there. Good luck in the winter semester! |

The "moed meyuhad" exam (nicknamed moed C) will be held at 10/11 at 15:30 in Taub 5. The only students eligible to the exam are those who were in active military duty or received special permission to attend from Prof. Gotsman.. All those who attend are required to provide proof of their special circumstances. |

The grades for the exam have been published and you should be able to see them now. There was a factor and the final grade is calculated as follows: - The exam grade got a factor of +4 - If your exam grade was below 45 after the factor the HW will not count - The HW final grade appear separately, please note that any excess points beyond 100 in an exercise do not count. The exams will be brought to the secretariat soon and scans should be available soon afterwards. For any questions regarding the scanning please approach the secretariat. Appeals: If you wish to appeal send your appeal by e-mail to Omer. You must follow these rules: - The subject of the mail will be "Moed B - Appeal" - The appeal should be submitted before 27.10. - You cannot appeal over the amount of points reduced over a mistake. - You may appeal over mistakes you think were made by the checker. - Please write in 1-3 lines (per problem) the reason for your appeal. (Writing extra text and pleas does not help your appeal anyway) - Do not attach the scan to your mail. - In case of an unjustified appeal the entire exam might be checked again and points may be reduced. The Moed B exam is tomorrow (Mon) at 13:00, in the rooms Ullman 701-709 not including 703. Haarachat Zman is room 708. Please note that the exam will be similar in nature and length to Moed A, but comprised out of 7 questions. |

The grades for the exam have been published and you should be able to see them now. We're sorry for the delay. Due to popular request, here is the grading key for exercise 4: The following tests worth 1 point each: 1,5,6,7,11,12,13,14,16,17,21,22,23,24,25,26,27,28,29 The following tests worth 2 points each: 2,3,8,10,15,19,20 The following test worth 3 points: 18 The following test worth 4 points: 9 The following test worth 5 points: 4 Also, points may be reduced due to manual check. Details on them will be found in the returned exercise. You can also lose points if you submitted the exercise late (5 points per day). You lose 1 point for every test which failed to compile. 5 bonus points are given for attending the code reviews. 5 bonus points are given for printed submission of the dry part. |

The grades for Exercise 4 are now published. The checked dry part will be returned soon to the secretary (early next week). Appeals can be submitted to Shay's mail box (in the 5th floor) until 28/07. You will soon receive an email with your tests result. Please go through them thoroughly before you appeal. Note that some students who submitted their exercise late, didn't get a grade yet, or got only a partial grade (no dry check). Grades for those students will be updated early next week. |

- The exam will take 3 hours and will consist of one part only. - The exam is with open material. You may bring any printed material you like. However, we highly recommend that you study in advance and be familiar with the material you bring, as searching unfamiliar material in real-time will be time consuming and ineffective. - The exam will consist of 6 questions and cover all subjects taught in the lectures, tutorials, and homework. - To get a feeling of how the exam will look like, you may browse the previous exams found on the course web site. The questions in our exam are generally similar in spirit to those asked in previous years. Note however, that some older exams do not cover all the course material, such as STL. - We will not be asking questions on compilation technicalities (typically question #10 in recent years). |

Clarifications of the submission of HW4 | |

Due to many students asking me in the last minutes what should be submitted and what should be included where, I want to make it as clear as possible: 1. You shouldn't submit any of the files supplied by us, meaning: a. mtm.h b. mtmtest.h c. mtmtest.cpp d. shared_ptr.h e. example files 2. You may assume these files will be placed in both the base directory and the tests directory. 3. The dry part should be submitted within the zip file of the wet submission. If you've already submitted the exercise, and you didn't follow the above instructions - Don't Panic!. Send a mail to ushaymattx.technion.ac.il and explain what you did exactly, and we'll find a solution. |

Code reviews for exercise 4 | |

We will hold the code reviews for exercise 4 starting from June 26th. Each submission will be reviewed in a short 10-minutes code review by one of the TAs in the presence of its submitters. Code reviews are a standard practice in software design meant to give personal feedback on the quality of each programmer's code. Issues found in the code review will not affect your grade and it's highly recommended that you come. As in exercise 2, a 5 points bonus will be given for attending the code review. In order to choose the time in which your code review will be held use the following form: https://spreadsheets.google.com/... Several times are available, distribution will be made according to a "first come, first serve" basis. Once the distribution is made, you will be sent a mail with the exact time and details of your review. Please note the following: - The code reviews start only 3 days after the submission date of exercise 4. In order to have the code review you must submit your exercise first. If you suspect you will not complete it by time, choose a later date for your review. - The code reviews will take place during the exams period. Please make sure you choose a time that does not conflict with your exams. - You must fill the form before Friday at 17:30. Filling it afterwards may prevent you from receiving the 5 points bonus. 1. For some reason, some of you are still sending me (Omer) scans of your exams for the purpose of an extension in exercise 1 (more than a month after its submission). If you still haven't sent me the scans you must send them in the next 24 hours. I see no reason for it to be done so late just because I did not state an explicit deadline. 2. Please fill the code review scheduling form until Friday at 17:30. This will be the latest time in which you can choose the time for your code review. Filling the form takes only a seconds. |

list.h was updated, the definition of the compare function was fixed, this function should return:* A positive integer if the first element is greater; * 0 if they're equal; * A negative integer if the second element is greater. Postponment of exercise 1 for students who attended more than one exam | |
If you had two or more exams during the exercise's duration (excluding tests taken on 13.3), you may receive a postponement for exercise's 1 deadline.
Please send Omer scans of the exam showing that you indeed attended it. You may send the scans only after they become available (No need to hurry). Please note that exams in calculus taken on 13.3 do not count as they did not interfere with completing this exercise. |

Auxiliary Tutorials | |

The auxiliary tutorials will start this week. They are meant to help you get acquainted with the various tools and technical aspects needed to solve the homework in this course. The tutorials will be passed by Carmi Grushko on Tuesday and Thursday every week for three weeks, starting this Tuesday. There are three auxiliary tutorials, each concentrating on a different aspect, and each one will be passed twice each week, so you may choose when to attend. The tutorials are not mandatory, but are recommended, especially for people without prior programming and linux experience. The auxiliary tutorials' slides can be found under Course Material->Auxiliary Tutorials.
