A mistake in grading of the C++ exam question | |
| There was a mistake in grading of the C++ exam question – there was no need for the assignment operator in the Student class. The grades of the students who did not write the assignment operator had been incorrectly reduced by two points. We rechecked all the C++ questions and will return the two points to all the students who did not write the assignment operator in the Student class. Today the grades will be updated in GR++ and during the week in the UG. NO NEED TO SUBMIT AN APPEAL REGARDING THESE TWO POINTS. |

You should be able to see your grade now. Dry checking is done by marking error-codes on your exercise (A,B,C...). A grading key explaining all of these codes and the mistakes behind them and a solution to the dry part (with grading key for the dry part at its end) can be found under the assignments section. If you wish to appeal: - Dry section/code review: Write an appeal and place it in Dmitry's box. This should be done before 7/08 (Excluding special cases such as reserve duty). Please note that in case of appeals over the dry part the entire exercise will be rechecked, and you may lose points due to your appeal. - Automatic check: You cannot appeal over the automatic check unless: You ran all tests (Which can now be found on ~mtm/public/0809b/ex4/all_tests) in the same conditions and figured the automatic checker was wrong. - There was some kind of a technical error with the electronic submission and you have the confirmation code or a copy of the files on T2 with a correct date. test#.in is the input and output and errors are expout# and experr#, respectively. Tests 8-11 are the ones you have already seen, and they are worth 2 points each. All the other tests are worth 3 points. See the message titled "Submission of email addresses for receiving results of the tests of the assignments" to receive the wet results of your exercise. |

Dear students, According to a message from TCC (which all of you should have received about a week ago), tomorrow there will be a communication disruptions between 6:00 and 16:00. During this time you may be unable to access T2 both in the Technion and outside it. There will be no internet access in the Technion. The mail servers will also be unavailable, which means we won't be able to read and answer your emails. Please plan your time accordingly. Please note that we will not test the 'greater' vs. 'greater or equal' differences in the following feature: "If all the items are bid for, target price must be greater than the minimum bid." It does not matter if you implement this feature in 'greater' or 'greater or equal' sense. If anybody implemented this issue in the 'greater or equal' sense, they should not change anything in their work. |

HW 2 - Error in FAQ and 24 hour postponement | |

Hi All, I have made a mistake in an "explanation" of the exercise. A corrected document, with the incorrect "explanation" struck through and the correct explanation added, was added in place of the old document. *** See the corrected documents at the bottom of the updates section of assignemnt2: http://webcourse.cs.technion.ac.il/234122/Spring2009/en/hw_HW_Updates_Exercise2.html The changes are at the bottom of the file. *** As I realize this error on my part, so close to the assignment's deadline, and might have cost you time to change your program and might cost you some more time in changing it back to the correct order, the exercise's deadline is postponed by 24 hours. Note 1: The only *change* to the assignment's description has been announced in the updates 10 days ago: 18.05: In AuctionManagerPrintMatching: … ascending prices and not descending prices… Note 2: All the announcements, "updates" etc., other than mentioned in Note 1, were clarifications and not changes to the assignment. Please read carefully the rules regarding the submission of the printed assignments. Please print the assignments in a way, appropriate for reading – please save time of the homework checker who have to read more than 150 printed works. Points will be reduced in the manual check for submitting unreadable assignments. In order to give you a possibility to print your assignments in an appropriate way and according to the rules that follow, you are allowed to submit the printed assignments six hours after the electronic submission. The electronic submission must be done on time.
If you have any questions/problems regarding the printing, please contact Pavel (the homework checker). |

You should be able to see your grade now. Dry checking is done by marking error-codes on your exercise (A,B,C...). A grading key explaining all of these codes and the mistakes behind them (and some some other general coding problems) can be found under the assignments section, or simply here. If you wish to appeal: - Dry section: Write an appeal and place it in Omer's box. This should be done before 7/6 (Excluding special cases such as reserve duty). Please note that the entire exercise will be rechecked, and you may lose points due to your appeal. - Wet section: You cannot appeal over the automatic check unless: You ran all tests (Which can now be found on ~mtm/public/0809b/ex1/tests) in the same conditions and figured the automatic checker was wrong. There was some kind of a technical error with the electronic submission and you have the confirmation code or a copy of the files on T2 with a correct date. See the previous message on receiving the wet results of your exercise. |

| The students who want to receive the results of the tests of their homework assignments by email are asked to submit their email addresses via the course webpage -> Assignments -> Submission of email addresses for receiving results of the tests of the assignments -> Electronic Submit. In order to submit your email address, please submit a text file mail.txt which will contain a single line with your email address. The submission is in singles – every student will receive all the tests of his/her assignments to the submitted email address, without any relation to who are/were his/her partners in the assignments. |

Announcement for students who have three or more midterms (BHANEI EMTZA) | |

The students who have three or more midterms (BHANEI EMTZA) will receive a postponement for the assignment in which they have the majority of the midterms. The postponement will be given only if the students will provide documents proving that they indeed participated in the three or more midterms. The postponement for an assignment will not entail any postponements for the next assignments. Please note that having one or two midterms during a homework assignment is not an exceptional case and the students who have less than three midterms are not eligible for any postponement. The course staff included the possibility of one or two midterms in the calculation of the timeframe for the second assignment. The postponements will be given in the following way : 3 days postponement for participation in 3 midterms 6 days postponement for participation in 4 midterms 9 days postponement for participation in 5 midterms To exemplify the postponements policy : If a student has 3 midterms during the period of assignment 2 and 1 midterm during the period of the assignment 3, he will receive 6 days postponement for the assignment 2 . The student will not receive any postponement for the assignment 3. The documents proving participation in the midterms : A copy of the title page of a checked midterm. The title page must contain the name or the ID of the student. or A signed letter from the lecturer in charge of the course of the midterm. The documents must be submitted until 06.07.09 to the mailbox of Vadim (91 on the Taub's fifth floor). Until the documents are submitted, the grades of the students will be reduced as usual, 5 points per one late day. The grades for the assignments will be updated once the documents proving participation in the midterms will be received. |

A few things to remind you before the deadline of exercise 1: - Make sure you read all of the questions and answers under the HW updates section. - Make sure your exercise conforms to the code conventions posted on the site. (For example, no long lines and no abbreviations which do not appear on the allowed list) - Make sure your exercise compiles on T2 - With all the flags requested in the exercise! - Make sure your exercise has the *exact* same output as the supplied test results (and no memory leaks) for the tests supplied. - Recompile and retest your exercise even if you make only "small changes". - You may submit electronically any number of time the last submission counts. No appeal will be possible for breaking any of the exercise guidelines, especially those mentioned above. Good luck. |

Homework assignments during the semester | |

Please note the following points regarding the homework assignments : 1. During this semester there will be no postponements for the assignments. Please plan your work accordingly. 2. The MATAM staff will apply advanced methods for discovering copying (HAATAKOT). The students who will be caught copying will face severe punishments. Please note that you are not allowed to share your code and your answers to the dry questions with students, other than your MATAM assignments partner. 3. For your homework assignments, object files/library files will be provided by the MATAM staff. The following formats of the objects/libraries will be provided: a. Linux x86 64 bit (t2) b. Linux x86 32 bit (for Linux 32 bit computers in the farm) c. Windows x86 32 bit for Eclipse CDT with MinGW (can be also used with DevCPP and with cygwin by using -mno-cygwin option) No other formats will be supported by the Matam staff.
