שלום לכולם, הדרישות לדף הנוסחאות במבחן יהיו זהות לדרישות מהמבחן בשנה שעברה (שזמין תחת חומר הקורס). בפרט: חומר העזר המותר לשימוש הוא שני דפי נוסחאות משודכים (שכל אחד מהם כתוב משני הצדדים), כאשר שם ומספר תעודת הזהות כתובים על כל אחד מהם. כל חומר עזר אחר אסור לשימוש. גם מחשבון אסור לשימוש. דפים שאינם כתובים בהתאם לנוהל יוחרמו. בהצלחה בבחינות, איתי וטל. |

Hello everyone, The following is an invitation from the Hellen Diller Quantum Center to a weekly seminar lecture. Students with a background in Electrical Engineering/Physics, or those who wish to dive deeper into topics in Quantum Information Processing, are encouraged to join the talk. Title: "SPONTANEOUS PARAMETRIC DOWN-CONVERSION AT THE NANOSCALE " Abstract: In ‘flat optics’ approach, bulky optical elements are replaced by subwavelength layers or metasurfaces. ‘Flat’ elements are broadband, ultrafast, multifunctional, and can use practically any materials, including highly absorptive or nonlinear. They proved very efficient in nonlinear optics and are now conquering quantum optics. In particular, spontaneous parametric down-conversion (SPDC) in ultrathin layers and metasurfaces opens new paths for the generation and engineering of entangled photons. Due to their tiny thickness, ‘flat’ SPDC sources enable momentum non-conservation between the pump photon and the emitted photon pair. As a result, photon pairs can have ultrabroad spectra and giant degrees of energy-time entanglement. There is also enormous freedom in the engineering of their polarization state. In metasurfaces, the rate of pair generation can be enhanced by orders of magnitude using Mie resonances or bound states in the continuum. Our recent experiments demonstrate SPDC with either one or both photons at resonance wavelengths. We also observed generation of states with multiple entanglement links and versatile directivity of the photon emission. In the last part of my talk, I will discuss the possibility to enhance the efficiency of SPDC from nanoscale sources, leading to the generation of squeezed vacuum. Recording of Tutorial 14 - Qiskit | |

Hello everyone, The tutorials in the last two weeks included additional content on the Qiskit software development kit. This content is new to the course, thus, did not appear in the recordings from last year. For those relying on the tutorial recordings, I have recorded an offline version of the tutorial (titled "Tutorial 14"), and released it into the same tutorial folder as the recordings from last year. The code that appeared in the tutorial (both the live and recording versions) appears under the "Course Material" tab. The tutorial gives a comprehensive introduction to the Qiskit platform and revisits QIP concepts that appeared throughout the course. :) Good luck with exams, Ittay. |

ראשית - אני חולה בקורונה, לכן ההרצאה תהיה רק בזום. לא להגיע לכיתה בבקשה שנית - בשעה הראשונה נלמד על פרדוקס איינשטיין-פודולסקי-רוזן ואילו בשעה השניה (פלוס-מינוס) נתעמק בהצפנה קוונטית מעבר לחלקים המאד פשוטים שפעם למדנו בבסיס החישוב ובסיס הדמר (למשל - בסוכריות הקוונטיות עם צבע וטעם). אני מקווה שלא אשתעל לזום שלכם יותר מידי :-) טל נ"ב - מסתובבות שמועות על שביתת סטודנטים של שעה. בדיוק ב12:30 כמדומני. אם זה יהיה המצב, אז מי שרוצה שיבקש באימייל ואלמד את איינשטיין-פודולסקי רוזן שוב מאוחר יותר למשל בשש אחה"צ. זה חשוב לכם בתזמון של היום כי מחר תראו בתרגול נושא מאד קשור לכך - אי שיוויון בל, נושא עליו ניתן פרס נובל לפני כמה חודשים לאלן אספקט (Alain Aspect ... אך בעברית ניתן ורצוי לומר אלה-אספה, אם רוצים לדייק בהיגוי הצרפתי). |

Hi everyone, 1. A few typos were fixed in HW5. Specifically, in question 3.2, psi- was fixed to phi-. Also, "RR" was supposed to denote the real numbers. 2. משאל המרצה והמתרגל! Please tell us what you think! There is always room for improvement. On a personal note, this is very important to me, and although I will not be the TA in the following years, your feedback will be passed on to future generations, so this course will continue to improve :) We would greatly appreciate it if you fill it out. 3. On Quantum Error correction - what we managed to show in class is the very tip of the iceberg. QEC is a very popular field, and there are many online (and offline) resources in case you want to learn more. Chapter 10 in Nielsen & Chuang takes a deep dive into QEC. Tutorial 14 - the Qiskit platform | |

Hi everyone, As the contents of tutorials 12 and 13 are rather short, we have decided to give an extra tutorial on Qiskit. Qiskit is the Python Software Development Kit (SDK) used to work with IBM's simulators and Quantum Computers. Qiskit is frequently used in the Quantum Computing industry, and it is a very powerful tool for all of your QIP needs! :) The materials are given under the "Tutorial 14" tab, and will be taught during this week and the next week (along with the original tutorial 12 and 13). סטודנטים יקרים לתשומת לבכם - חשוב לי להדגיש שאמנם אני לא רושם שמות, אך מכל בחינה אחרת יש חובת נוכחות בהרצאות. משמעות הדבר היא שחומר הלימוד המחייב בהחלט כולל גם: חלקים מהחומר אשר בכוונה לא כתובים בשקפים עצמם, אלא אני מרחיב במהלך ההרצאה שאלות שסטודנטים שואלים בזמן ההרצאה והתשובות אליהם כל דבר ספונטני אחר שעולה במהלך ההרצאה פרקים ומאמרים שאני מזכיר ולעיתים אומר שהם רחוקים מחומר הקורס והם לא בחומר (אלא רק להעשרה למעוניינים בכך), אך לעיתים אני אומר שמומלץ מאד לעיין בחלקים מסויימים אלו בברכה טל |

HW1 is now released and appears in the HW tab of the course website. The submission date is 20.11 at 11:59 PM. Submission is in Pairs (singles can ask directly). Submissions should be typed, not hand-written, and submitted through the course website. Good luck, Ittay. :) |

Hi all, The qandies slides are modified TWICE: First, in class (last week) I used a newer version (from 23/Oct - not attached). Second, now I put a newer version from 30/Oct, that contains also two new slides about SUPER DENSE CODING, the first quantum communication protocol (Bennett and Wiesner, 1992). But .... with qandies. Tutorials: Documents, Presentations and Tensor Products | |

Hey Everyone :) As you noticed, the tutorial has two versions: a document and a presentation. The presentation is the presentation that we go over in the tutorials. The document contains the same content, with some extra explanations and examples. This format will be used for all the tutorials in the course. So if something was unclear in a tutorial's presentation, The document is a great source of info. Today's tutorial was unfortunately cut short - I will give another small example of tensor products in the next tutorial. Feel free to ask me anything, and good luck! Ittay |

Replacement Lecture | |

On Wednesday, 9.11, at 12:30-14:30, we will hold a 2-hour lecture. It will replace a lecture around the end of the semester in order for the lectures and tutorials to be in sync. Regards, Tal and Ittay |

All info on the course can be found under the "General Info" and "Syllabus" tabs. We advise you to review it. 2. The course staff appears under the "Staff" tab, with updated times for the lectures, tutorials, and office hours. 3.
