Challenges in Modern Data Centers management

Description:
The course goal is to introduce the students to the challenges in managing large-scale modern Data-Centers, the solutions (technologies, algorithms) used to the to address them, and the practical considerations that guide the design of the solutions.Topics covered in the course include:
- Facility basics and networking.
- Large-scale resource management and job scheduling.
- Storage and data access.
- Monitoring and predictive analytics.
- Security.
Lectures will be held on Wednesdays 14:30-16:30 at Taub 6 .
Pre-requisite courses:
- Introduction to Computer Networks (236334), or
- Distributed Systems (236351).
Grading policy:
- Mandatory attendance at 80% of the lectures. i.e., youareOK to be away ("miluim", ski, etc.) for 2 weeks at most.
- 3-4 Assignments - 30%.
- Final Exam – 70%
