שלום לסטודנטים הסובלים כעת בתקופת המבחנים לקראת הלימוד למבחן שלנו חשוב לציין שהנושאים הבאים לא נלמדו השנה: האלגוריתם של גרובר (אלגוריתם קוונטי לחיפוש) האלגוריתם של סיימון אלגוריתם הפיקטור של שור כמו כן לא למדתם את ההוכחה ש-BQP מוכל בתוך PSPACE, אבל פחות נראה לי שיש שאלות בנידון לעיתים לא קל לדעת האם שאלה מסויימת מבוססת על גרובר או על DJ. אם יש משהו שקשור ב"חיפוש" אז כנראה זה לא רלוונטי לחומר שלכם השנה. במידה ויש לכם ספיקות האם שאלה מסויימת או סעיף בשאלה מסויימת ממבחן כלשהו רלוונטי.ת לכם או מחוץ לחומר, אני מציע שתשלחו פרטים מדוייקים, גם אלי וגם לעומר באימייל יחיד, וננסה לענות במידת היכולת שלנו ובמהירות סבירה. |

כפי שכתוב במבחני עבר ״ חומר עזר מותר לשימוש: שני דפי נוסחאות משודכים (שכל אחד מהם כתוב משני הצדדים), כאשר שם ומספר תעודת הזהות כתובים על כל אחד מהם. כל חומר עזר אחר אסור לשימוש. גם מחשבון אסור לשימוש.״ זה תקף גם לבחינה שלכם ביום חמישי, למי שלא היה ברור. אני כמעט בטוח שזה גם נאמר בכיתה. בהצלחה. |

Clarification regarding q3 in HW5
|
Several students had been asking me about how exactly the center attacks Alice and Bob. Well, it does so by measuring in the computational basis, rather than in the Bell basis as they expect it to. So the center keeps telling them which 'Bell state' he measured, which is a lie: Say they number the state 0,1,2,3 in some order they agreed on, then the center will keep telling them these numbers. Then I some students asked, what computational basis state correspond to what Bell state. I will give you a hint on how to approach it: He may arbitrarily assign the \psi_- state to either the 01 or 10 computational states (the problem is symmetric - same probabilities for both) (or can use a coin flip whenever it encounters one of them and tails will be psi+ and heads psi-) \Phi states must be assigned to 00 and 11 otherwise Alice and Bob will know for sure he was doing something fishy. He needs to make them think everything is normal and since getting 00 01 10 11 are 25% each, he has to maintain this so he won't be suspected. Also, if it was not clear - the analysis you should do in section b and c is only for the states that have not been thrown. Hope it is clearer now, Omer |

About CheeseFork and advanced topics 02360641 [older number 236641]

Hi all, Someone told me that on CheeseFork they see a terrible Histogram from last year (Spring 2025). It is a big mistake. No-one failed the course, not even a single student. I think four or six still have LO HISHLIM, and maybe this is what confused the CheesFork. Please tell me what you see now. There are two students that only now get the grade (an excellent grade), so in the Histogram they might WRONGLY be written as failed.. There are two students that still need to get grades as they submitted only a month ago, and two that still need to submit or re-register in the coming Spring. So in the Histogram maybe these four are also wrongly written as failed instead of a temporary or permanent LO HISHLIM. But no one failed. I'm telling you this just in case you got worried due to the wrong Histogram. So I hope to see many of you in the Spring course :-) You are most welcome. Tal |

a. We want to complete the one-hour we missed in the first week due to Rabin's ceremony. So the students run a POLE about when to do it: This Wednesday? Sunday 23'rd? Wednesday 26'th? It is urgent in case the majority want the class to be THIS WEDNESDAY. On Wednesdays it can be at 12:30 or at 13:30. On a Sunday it can be at 17:00. In the pole, please only write when you absolutely cannot. b. Please join the group WhatsApp - only a few did not join it yet. Link can be found in the "cheesefork". The POLE can then be found in the group WhatsApp. c. We permanently move to TAUB 301. d. Please be aware that it is a floor for the administration of CS, and not for students and not for classes. But because of the problem with TAUB 3 we are allowed to be there.... But only for these two hours of our class. |

Dear students, I repeat what I said in class regarding HW: There'll be 5 assignment, every two weeks, roughly. All assignments should be handed for 20% of the final grades (4% each). You can work in pairs, but make sure each of the partners are familiar with the different exercises. All submission must be typed (using Word, Lyx, Latex or whatever editor you prefer) and submitted in the web course in pdf format. HW1 will be uploaded in few minutes. Hi all, Due to the Rabin memorial ceremony, the first hour of the first lecture is canceled. It will be given later the same day, instead of the tutorial.
