Dear students, In Q13, Section 2(d), you are asked to prove that the product of two kernels is a valid kernel. The hint suggested using matrix analysis arguments, but that approach relies on a result (that pointwise multiplication of PSD matrices is PSD) which some of you may not have encountered. Therefore, we have removed that hint, and you can instead use the same reasoning you employed in Dry HW3. If you have already solved this question using the hint, your work is perfectly find, and you do not need to revise it. Best, |

Dear students, Dry 1 grades are now available. Appeal policy *WE WILL NOT REMIND AGAIN* During the course you may appeal on your homework grades by writing a concise appeal to the course's email. Appeals will be accepted for 3 consecutive work days after the grades and feedbacks are published, and will lead to a renewed grading of the entire submission. Wet HW1 - Data Exploration and Preparation | |

Dear students, Wet assignment 1 (out of 3) is now available in the assignment section. Submission is in groups of 2 students. The assignment is mandatory and its grade is worth 6% of the final grade. We trust you to solve it *solely* with your partner(s). The assignment concentrates on data exploration and data preparation. All three wet assignments will handle the same data, so, the insights you will gain in this assignment will help you throughout the two other assignments. A few remarks: 1. Stay calm. There are many ways to tackle and solve this assignment. You are primarily assessed based on your report, reasoning, and explanations. 2. Don’t get stuck on the first questions, e.g., typing of columns. If you’re not sure, guess and then come back later after you have finished your analysis and become more informed. It is common in ML projects rerun the different parts of the notebook several times (one of the reasons we use jupyter). Best regards |

Dear students, We are excited to begin the course! 1. The Probability and Numerical Algorithms prerequisites will be enforced at the beginning of the semester. 2. Lectures and tutorials via zoom: Until further notice, we will hold our lectures, tutorials, and reception hours via zoom. Recordings: Lectures for this semester will be recorded; however, we strongly encourage attending the live Zoom classes. Currently, tutorial recordings are not planned for this semester. Panopto folders from the 2021 lectures and tutorials are available in the course materials section, but please use these with caution as they are outdated. Moreover, we have recordings of review workshops from Winter2023-2024 also available under course material. The obligating material for the assignments and the exams is the one we will teach during the *current* semester. Note: We do not bear responsibility for any technical issues related to the recordings. 4. Written correspondence will be held only using the course email at u236756MLatgmail.com 5. Course materials are written in English. Classes will be held in Hebrew. Exams - in Hebrew. If you need an English exam, please contact the course email ASAP. 6. The course is not based on a single book. We do offer some references to prominent literature in the syllabus, and we may refer to relevant chapters as the course progresses. 7. Course grading and assignments: - 74% exam (55+ to pass). - 3 major programming assignments: 18% of final grade (mandatory, submitted in pairs only). These assignments will be slightly shorter than previous semesters. - 4 short assignments (mostly non-programming): 8% of final grade (mandatory, submitted individually). - See the syllabus for full details. 8. Students repeating the course: Can migrate the major assignments' grades from the previous semester, but *must* redo the updated short assignments. 9. We will hold two weekly office hours on Sunday and Thursday via Zoom at 16:30-17:20. The link is provided in the "Course Material" section. 10.
