Explanations regarding how the final grade is calculated can be found at: http://www.cs.technion.ac.il/Courses/OOP/slides/export/236703/04winter/04winter_grading_policy.txt . HW assignments weights were 0.07 (1), 0.1 (2), 0.08 (3) and 0.1 (4) out of 0.35. Note that the raw grades of both the exam and the midterm were used for the calculations. When: Wednesday, 25-02-04, 17:00-20:00 Where: Taub 3, 7 and 9. Students with time extension, please sit in class 3. Material: All chapters. Note that there are few slide groups which we neither went through in class nor gave for self reading; these are also for the exam. Reception hours: Claudia will have additional reception hours on Monday before the exam, 11:00-13:00. Itai will have additional reception hours both on Monday and Tuesday, 15:30-18:00. TelephoneBook is an interface class in a sense that only operations declared in it are available for users of either implementation of TelephoneBook. This does not mean that it should contain only pure virtual functions! any code that is common to both concrete classes should be implemented in TelephoneBook. Just wanted to be sure that you got this right... Reminder for the Wednesday group: we'll have a double tutorial, from 08:30 to 10:20 next week. First hour is TIRGUL HASHLAMA. Correction for assignment #3 | |

Regarding creation of new TelephoneBook, this is what you should do: Create one or more static member function(s) named "Create" in the TelephoneBook class, that will choose alternately one of the two concrete classes and create and instances of it. The returned value should be TelephoneBook&. This should be the only way in which a TelephoneBook object could be created. This means that when you call Create, you cannot know which implementation you'll get. Also - this should be the only place in which you are allowed to reference to either TelephoneBookMap or TelephoneBookList from TelephoneBook. Sorry for the inconveniency for those of you who already started working on this... Cheers Itai |

Although we annonced this change (due to the problems with webcourse server back then) and changed the link from the faculty courses list, there are still people who come with questions such as "why don't you publish the material for lectures and tutorials in advance" (answer: we do, at the information section in the correct website...) The material for the midterm exam is: 2 - all 3 - all 4 - all 5 - A-C, E 6 - A-E 7 - A-E Notes: - 7C and 7E will be taught in the lecture of next week. - Some of the chapters are (were) given for self reading. Itai will have extended reception hours before the test on Tuesday, 14:30-17:30; in addition - you are welcome to post questions via e-mail or drop by and ask questions. I have posted two important notes about assignment 1 in the FAQ page regarding - a bug in LST when initializing long integers - a note about the conversion methods Note that you don't have to use the conversion methods thing (since it came so late), but you can use it if you'd like. Assignment 1 has been postponed for next Tuesday, 2/12/2003. The required code for calculating the number of days in Cheshvan and Kisslev has been released. Please refer to the FAQ page or the exercise regarding its location and contents. The FAQ page contains some error corrections; in particular - Gregorian 1/1/1900 = Hijri 28/8/1317 and not as first stated in the assignment. Cheers Itai |

To all students who do not have access to the course site: All course slides are available at http://www.cs.technion.ac.il/Courses/OOP/slides/export/236703/lectures.html. Since this is not on the webcourse server, you should not have any problems following this link. This week you were doing 2A+part of 2B in the lecture, and 3A and part of 3B and 3C in the tutorials (including Thursday's tutorial). Next week you'll finish 2B and do 4A+part of 4B in the lecture, and finish 3C+3B in the tutorials. We hope the webcourse saga will end soon... we'll find an alternative solution if it doesn't.
