Appeals will be acceptable only by submitting a formal appeal form (can be downloaded from the faculty's website) to Gal's mailbox (#154) on the 5th floor of Taub. Note, that we will not accept appeals about the "severity of the marking schema", e.g., "I think you deducted too many points for my type of mistake". Moed A & Assignment 3 and 4 grades and appeals

Dear students, As you've probably noticed, grades for Moed A, Assignment 3 and Assignment 4 have been published. The average for Moed A is 75, and the median is 77. A few of you received very low grades on the assignments due to bad configurations of your project. If you wish to appeal on the homework, please see the attached testing files, and make sure your project runs using the included instructions. You may send a fixed project to Gal's email. A solution for Moed A will be published soon. The exam scans should be available within the next couple of days. Appeals will be acceptable only by submitting a formal appeal form (can be downloaded from the faculty's website) to Gal's mailbox (#151) at the 5th floor of Taub. You may attach a copy of your exam, or selected parts, if you believe it help clarify your appeal. We will not accept appeals (either on the Homework or Moed A) submitted after August 14th. Assignment 4

Dear students, Assignment 4 has been published. A significant minority of you did not understand or implement the separation of the source code to API and query implementations, and submitted APIs that are dependent on the implementation code, and therefore the API does not compile on its own when extracted. Because of that, all submitted code (i.e., api and impl) is published in contrast to what to had previously stated. Regards, The course staff. |

Failing tests due to OutOfMemory errors

Dear Students, It has come to our attention that several students have failed the tests due to running out of RAM. Any such students should mail Gal and their tests would be rerun with more memory (10Gb). Note that 10 points will be reduce from your grade. Access is denied issue resolved

Dear Students, After some detective work, the "FileNotFoundException (access is denied)" issue that plagued some students' submissions has been resolved, the tests have be rerun and the assignments have been regraded. The culprit was Windows 8, if anyone was wondering. Regards, The course staff. |

Assignment 2 graded and appeals

Dear Students, Assignment 2 has been checked, and the grades and tests are available in the assignment section. Several students had issues with their persistency mechanism. Namely, a "FileNotFoundException (access is denied)" exception was thrown when of our tests were ran in unison. We are publishing all the tests, so students who code encountered these (and other similar) issues may appeal. Note, that if the problem was in your code, there will be a small grade penalty for appealing. Please contact Gal with any questions / appeals. Dear Students, Welcome to the course, Software Design. During this semester we will be using the Piazza Q&A system to advance on going discussion on various course subjects. You can think of this website as a hybrid of Webcourse FAQ, the Facebook course group and StackOverflow. Any student can post a question and tag (e.g. hw1, exam, testing, spartanization, guice, mockito, etc.), insert code snippets or post interesting links. Anyone, student or Staff member, can answer a post (no "like" button unfortunately), and add from his experience thus creating a rich discussion. You can also search for previous answers by topic, or by specific keywords and quickly find what you need. Unlike Facebook or Webcourse the course staff can mark good questions and answers, quickly pointing you to the "formal" answer or to the heart of the discussion.
