WS3 Q3 - UPDATE

Dear Students, We have updated the "generate_patients_population" function in Q3 to better illustrate the effectiveness of the IPW method. Please note the following: * This update does not alter the required code or logic of the solution. It simply generates a population where the IPW gains are more clearly visible using the same solution. * This update is not mandatory: If you have already completed the question, you do not need to redo it. We grade based on the validity of your implementation, not the magnitude of the observed effect. We apologize for the inconvenience; our intent is simply to make this concept clearer. הרצאה 3 - עדכון המצגת ומענה לשאלה מההרצאה

שלום לכולם, העלנו גרסא מעודכנת של המצגת לאתר בנוסף, נשאלה שאלה לגבי החשיבות של מספר דוגמאות שונה מהתפלגויות p ו-q בשקפים על IPW. התשובה היא גם שזה משנה, וגם שזה לא משנה. מבחינת הנוסחה ל-w(x), מכלל Bayes אכן מקבלים שצריך למשקל לפי ה-class prior, כלומר w(x)=(P(z=0)/P(z=1))*exp(f(x)). אבל בפועל, מכיון שה-״תיקון״ הזה פשוט מכפיל את כל המשקולות באותו קבוע (שאינו תלוי ב-x(, אפשר פשוט להשתמש ב-w(x)=exp(f(x)) ולהתעלם מהפרופוציות, כי זה לא משנה את בעיית הלמידה ויתן את אותו ה-argmin (עד כדי קבוע הרגולריזציה). |
