The course will teach the database approach to designing information systems and data-centric applications. Three main topics will be taught: database design, relational databases, and non-relational database models. The focus is on the relational model, wherein the course will include various concepts of query languages, integrity constraints, schema design, and interfacing with programming languages. The non-relational models include XML, RDF and the Semantic Web, and common models known as NoSQL.

Grading:
80% - Final exam
20% - Assignments: 2 dry, 2 wet+dry (TAKEF)
Assignments should be submitted only in <b style="text-decoration: underline;">pairs!</strong> Assignment that will be submitted in singles will not be checked.
Assignment grades will be taken into consideration only for students who get at least 55 in the final exam!
