Make sure that all the atoms in your lexicon (and in the test sentences) are in lower case. Remember that words that begin with capital letter are considered variables. So make it "i" and not "I",etc. Roy. |

For those of you who missed today's recitaiton: Today in the recitation I found that many of you assumed that in question #2, the "H" prefix is a separate word. However, it should be clear from the context that in this question the "H" is part of the noun/adjective, otherwise it is pointless to ask about assigning a DEF feature to nouns and adjectives. Anyway, those of you who made that mistake have a chance to fix it until Monday (21/6) at noon (12:00) (I wll pick the exercises only then). If you already submitted this exercise you can submit a fix until that time (just make it clear that this is a fix). Roy. |

If for some reason you find that in question #11, printing the occurences of w(i-1) t(i-1) t(i) *in the order they appear in the test corpus* is difficult for you, it's ok to print them in any other order. Just make sure that they repeat for each occurence. Roy. |

In order to connect to csl1, don't use telnet (it won't work), but ssh. If, for instance, you have an account on stud1, login to stud1 first, and then login to csl1 using: ssh -X <yourusername>@csl1. Alternatively, use the "ssh secure shell client" program on windows. Roy. |

HW6 clarifications and updates | |

Here are some answers for questions I received: 1. Throughout this exercise, our "words" are actually morphemes. If it appears between white spaces, then it is considered a separate word. For example, the word BBIT (in the house), would appear in the corpus as three morphemes (B H BIT), and we treat each one of them as a separate "word". 2. When lambda = 1, interpolate-unigram-bigram fails. I updated this program, so now it requires that lambda will be smaller than 1. Note that when lambda = 1, it's exactly the bigram model, so use the result you got for the bigram model (model 2). 3. Clarifications for question #11: The file should have the following format: In each line, a trigram of the type: w(i-1) t(i-1) t(i) These trigrams should appear in the same order they were found in the test corpus, and should repeat for each occurence in the test corpus. The precentage you need to calculate is of number of occurences, not of number of different types (this should be clear from the context). Roy. |

1. Lecture #3 was published in the site. 2. In the "Literature" section we added a link to a list maintained by the faculty librarians. It includes for each book a link to the library catalog, so you can easily reserve/check the status for the book. 3. A note about GR++ registration: student registration to courses is no longer automatically updated in GR++ . The current course student list in GR++ reflects the status at the beginning of the semester. Therefore, make sure you are registered in GR++. If not, you should do the following: 1. login to gr++ portal: http://grades.cs.technion.ac.il/ 2. Go to "settings" 3. Go to "Course list" 4. Add or remove courses 5. The change will be updated on the next day. This, of course, DOES NOT REPLACE the Technion registration to the course in undergraduate studies (Ulman), (or graduate studies...) as usual!
