HW1 contest is open + lesson feedback form

Hi all, HW1 contest is now open in vjudge. Currently it contains only 2 problems, however each week, 2 more problems will be added on the topic of the week. There'll be 10 problems in total in HW1. We'd really appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to share your feedback on the recent lecture and the competition. Your honest thoughts — both what worked well and what could be improved — are very valuable and will help us to improve the future lessons. Required preparation for the upcoming lesson

Hi all, The contest in vjudge at the lesson tomorrow will include problems from Codeforces. To be able to submit the solution, you need to have Codeforces account and bind it to your vjudge account here: https://vjudge.net/user/remoteAccounts?oj=CodeForces There are two options, use any: 1) Bind using your Codeforces login/password 2) Bind using the value of JSESSIONID cookie. You need to login into your Codeforces account, go to developer console in the browser, Application->Cookies and copy the value of the JSESSIONID cookie into vjudge We created a test contest to verify that submissions work correctly: https://vjudge.net/contest/812398 Please make sure that you can submit the solution to the problem before the lesson tomorrow Best, Course Staff |

Details about bonus and upcoming lecture

Hi all, We hope you productively spent the exams period and ready to continue problem solving! We remind you that upcoming lecture will take place at Taub 7 on 12.05.2026 at 16:30, don't forget to bring your laptops and chargers. The lecture will be taught in English. As we mentioned on the first lesson, students will be able to earn up to 5% bonus for participating in Codeforces rounds. The conditions are the following: 1) We say that participation of student in specific contest is successful if any condition holds: 1.1 Contest is rated for Div.3 and student performed better than 70% of official participants who solved at least 1 problem according to final standings 1.2 Contest is rated for Div.2 and student performed better than 50% of official participants who solved at least 1 problem according to final standings 1.2 Contest is rated for Div.1 and student performed better than 40% of official participants who solved at least 1 problem according to final standings 2) For each successful participation student gets 1% bonus, maximum 5% You can register and check contest schedule here: https://codeforces.com/contests IMPORTANT NOTE: to be able to get the bonus, you must send your full name and Technion email address to user "Igorfardoc" on Codeforces from your account till 26.05.2026 inclusive (note, you need to solve at least one problem on the website to be able to send a message, so don't postpone to the last moment) Good luck, Course staff |

The due date is 19/5/2026, but it is recommended to try solving and submitting the assignment before the next lesson for a smoother start. 2. Welcome to the Workshop in Competitive Programming!

Dear students, We hope you're as excited as us to finally start the course! Our first lesson will take place on Tuesday (14/04/2025) at 16:30, in Zoom. A link to the zoom meeting will be sent on Tuesday. In this lesson, we will introduce competitive programming and the workshop, solve some problems together, and have our first warm-up contest in singles. Before the first lesson, please complete the following steps: - Throughout the semester, we will use the vjudge system for weekly contests. Please create an account on https://vjudge.net/ . Please choose an indicative username, as it will be displayed on the scoreboard during class. - Register your username in the following form: https://forms.office.com/r/KMddJShTex - Once you register, we will invite you to the workshop vjudge group. You will be able to see it under the "Group" section in the vjudge system. - To get comfortable with with the vjudge system, you can join the contest named 'Introduction contest' inside the group, and try to solve the warm-up problems there. - For problem solutions, we will use C++ exclusively throughout the semester. - We ask that you prepare a basic working environment for C++ before the lesson. That includes a compiler of your choice and preferably some IDE like VScode. - Please turn off all AI agents and autocomplete in your IDE before the lesson. Note that workshop attendance is mandatory. If you anticipate any issues, please let us know in advance. Students who did not receive a registration confirmation from the TA in charge and want to take the course - Please attend the first lesson.
