Hi all, A solution is available. Those who want to submit an appeal can still do it till this Thursday. Also, in the fast arithmetic question we found a bit more complicated solution with Tpd =3. Anyone who chose 3 in ALEF (and a reasonable number in BET) got the points, although it seems that non of you actually solved this. Consider this a riddle (maybe with bonus!): how can you get a Tpd =3 in question 4, and how much does it cost ? Good luck! Gil |

Hi all, Moed A will be held on Sunday 20.02.05, 9:00, in Taub 3,5,6,7,9. Exam Policy: The exam will include ALL the material of the lecture-notes, including MIPS variants, and fast arithmetics. It will also include all the material taught in the TIRGULIM. The exam will be WITHOUT any written notes or books (no "CHOMER EZER"). The exam booklet will contain all the relevant drawings (the MIPS data-path, Control etc.). (Note that the course material generally follows Ami's lecture notes). Good luck! Gil |

Few remarks: A. if your partner is in Miluim (or you have a really good excuse for late submission), email me till Sunday, so I won't return the works yet. B. I used my almighty power as HW3 checker to granted two extra bonus points to all works that were printed on two sides. Hi all, This should help you deal with the delicate points: 1. Make you sure that you understand how our digital systems work: all the FFs are of the same kind and are loaded at once - according to the clock. We associate a "state" with the specific contents of the FFs. (how many states are possible?) Thus, in a given clock cycle the machine is in a certain state, some computation is made (it takes some time), and at the end of this cycle the registers will load again: the state will change. 2. State machines (FSMs) describe how a system goes from one state to another. 3. In both Moore & Mealy machines, the next state is determined by the current state and the input. However, - in Moore the output is determined only by the current state. - in Mealy the output is is determined by the current state and the input. The most important thing is to understand what happens when. Think of these questions: a. in both machine types, which input exactly determines the next state/output ? b. how can a Moore machine respond to an input? c. when does the output of a Mealy machine changes according to the input? if you are not sure about the answers, you need to review the material. you are welcome with any questions you might have! hope this helps!
