The average final grade was 68.44, while the median was 73. The standard deviation was 20. 3. Appeals should be submitted to David's cell no later than Monday 16/04, 12:00. 1. Moed A exams have been checked and grades are available online. A 7% factor was given to the exam grade (FactorA=1.07*ExamA). Note that this grade appears rounded in the grades column but is not rounded in the calculation of the final grade (FinalA=0.74*FactorA+HW...). 2. According to a new Technion policy we are publishing some statistics for Moed A exam. The average grade in the exam was 59.48, while the median was 60.5. The standard deviation was 16.5. These numbers are revealed in order to help you make the educated decision of whether to attend Moed B or not. After Moed B, we will also publish the Final grades average and histogram. 3. There are 5 questions in the exam, 12 pages in total. 2. The exam is an anonymous exam. Do not write your names on any of the pages you will receive. Instead, you are required to write your ID number twice (on the usual cover page given by Ulmann and on the course's cover page mentioned earlier). Please make sure that your ID number is written clearly. 3. You are allowed to bring any printed material to the exam, including ASAT's exam booklet, if you have one. However, bear in mind that this booklet contains mistakes, for which the course staff takes no responsibility. 4. Wet2 grades have been published, and feedback - including submitted files, results and feedback for the dry part - have been sent to the students who submitted a submissions.txt file (contact Erez if you did not submit such a file and would like to get your feedback). The input and output files can be found under Assignments/Wet2/Wet2FinalTest{In,Out}Puts.zip. Erez will hold a session to allow students an opportunity to make small modifications to their code on Wednesday 15/2 10:00, Taub 412. You should come to these sessions with a list of the modifications you want to make to the files you submitted. Yesterday we have published in the wet2 FAQ section a Q&A concerning the order of return types of the function TowersOfHeightBetween (section B of the assignment). As some of you pointed out to us, the instructions written in the FAQ collided with the instructions written in the documentation file. We have corrected the FAQ, and it now contains exact instructions on which error codes should be returned and in what order. The tests used to test the first wet assignment contained input undiscussed in the wet assignment's description. Specifically, the return value of IsCheck when receiving as color INVALID_COLOR. Most of the students guessed correctly that the correct return value should be INVALID_INPUT. However, as the return value for such a case was not specifically given in the assignment description, the relevant lines were removed from the tests. Wet1 Grading Key and clarification concerning Correction Hours | |

Grading Key for the wet part
</u> The wet part was worth half the grade - that is, 50 points. Tests Randtest[0-8] are each worth 5 points The Memory Leak Test is also worth 5 points. The Compile "Test" is just an indication of whether or not your code compiled without errors and warnings. Note that this is not worth any points, so if you failed this but passed all the tests (in case your code compiled with warnings), you got all the points for the wet part. The STL "Test" tests whether you used the standard library in your solution. Students who failed this test (and after an additional check on the part of Erez were found to indeed have used STL in their solution) failed the assignment as a whole. Clarification concerning Correction Hours </u> By "small" fix we mean "small". 1 or 2 lines of code. As previously announced, every such fix costs 5 points, so these Correction Hours are intended for students who failed several tests due to some small mistake in their code. If you find such small fixes to your code allow you to pass several tests, we strongly recommend you come to the Correction Hours; if you do come, have the changes you need to make to your code written on a piece of paper in advance. In the documentation files, the order of the parameters in the declaration of the function PutOnTop() was accidentally switched. The correct order is: StatusType PutOnTop(void* DS, int cubeUp, intCubeDown); There is no need to download the library2.h and main2.cpp files again, since their order was correct. Minor corrections in Dry 1 and Recitation 4 slides | |

Dry 1: In question 4 seif A, the halting condition of the recursion was missing: if (n == 1) return 1; This line was added at the beginning of the function. Note that this does not change the question, so if you solved this correctly (disregarding this mistake), your solution should not change. Recitation 4: In slide 7, the example at the top of the page, the first line should start with "Inorder" and the second line should start with "Preorder". The corrected files are online. If you happened to print them out, make sure you modify your printouts. Course staff. |

Recitations will be given in their usual hours from the 14/11. Until then, no recitations will be given in their usual hours. Instead, next week's lectures (on Tuesday 8/11) will not be given, and recitations 1 and 2 will be given instead. From the 14/11, lessons will return to their usual times. This is the first official mail from the "Data Structures 1" (234218) course staff. Each student registered to the course should get this mail. Those who didn't get it, are probably not registered, or are not on the mailing list. So, if you know about friends who are taking this course and did not get this mail, please inform them to register through the "Auto update" feature appearing at the homepage. The course announcements, notifications, changes etc. will be published on the web and through this mailing list. It's your responsibility to be updated and to check from time to time for new information posted on the web. All the information you need appears at the course website at: http://webcourse.cs.technion.ac.il/234218. Specifically, please make sure you read the course guidelines that appear in the "Information Sheet" file under the syllabus tab. Also, read the course schedule under the syllabus tab, which will specifiy the material taught in each week, along with the submission dates of each homework assignment. The lectures slides can be downloaded and printed from the site (under "Course material") or obtained as a booklet at Beit Hastudent. In the recitations, we will teach using PowerPoint slides which appear under "Course material => Tutorials => Tutorial Slides". We recommend that you bring a printout of the slides to every tutorial. Additional service that the course home page suggests is partner finding. Our office hours will be updated soon under the "Staff" tab. Try to fit yourselves to those office hours, or contact us by email. We will be happy to answer your questions and help you with this course during the semester. Assuming (perhaps "wishing"?) that the semester starts as planned, the recitations will be held starting the first day of the semester (that is: Monday 24/10).
