Exam B - some statistics

Dear Students, For your information, in the final marks of Moed Bet exam, the average improvement was 11.5 points, averaged over individual improvements of the 84 students that attended both exams. This statistic indicates that the exam was relatively easy. On the negative side, it appears that many students did not study sufficiently well to the exam and severely missed the two questions (2 and 5) that were identical or very close to homework questions. Dear Students, 1) The final exam (moed bet) will take place on Wednesday, October 13, from 09:00 to 11:00. 2) The required material includes all topics that were taught in all the lectures, tutorials and exercises. However, generating functions is not included. 3) The exam is a closed book exam so you will not be allowed to bring in any material. However, we will provide you with our own summary pages. These pages are published in the course web site under "Course Material". 4) The exam will last 2 hours. No exits will be permitted during the exam (not even for the bathroom). 5) The exam includes one question which is exactly similar to one of the questions which were given in the assignments in the course. The weight of this question in the exam is at least 10 points. We highly recommend that you learn well the solutions for the course assignments... 6) We will give the following special reception hours: Sunday, 10/10, 12:00-13:00 - Natalia. Dear Students, As you should know, Moead Alef was marked. After "factor" of 5 points, the median was 66 and there were around 22.5% failures. Exam A - Front Page

Dear Students, The first page of the exam which contains the exam's instructions is published in the course web site under "Course Material". Note that you may get 20% of the points of any question by writing "I don't know the solution". However, some students tend to use this bonus wrongfully. They write partial solution and write at the end that they don't know the answer. This won't be accepted! Only empty or "I don't know the solution" answers will receive the 20% points. Dear Students, Due to the cancellation of tutorials this week we will give two complementary tutorials: 1) Sunday, 11/4/2010, 17:30-18:30, Taub 2. 2) Tuesday, 13/4/2010, 15:30-16:30, Taub 7. Both of these tutorial will teach tutorial #4 - Inclusion-exclusion principle (part 1). Home Works Schedule

Dear Students, We publish a tentative schedule for the assignments which we plan to publish during the semester. This schedule is not obligated and might be changed. We publish it in order to help you plan your submissions during the semester. Note that the last assignment submission date is one week after the end of the semester, so if you have exams at the beginning of the exams period you should plan your submissions wisely...! Tutorial number 1

A preliminary tutorial is published in the course site. Before every week we'll publish a skeleton of the next tutorial and at the end of the week we'll publish a full detailed version (with the solutions...) of the tutorial. We do so in order to save you time during the tutorial spent on writing. This way you will have more time to listen and understand the material. Moreover, We highly recommend to go over the full detailed version of the tutorial which might contains some information that we didin't manage to go over! Course Staff. |

This year tutorials will be filmed

Dear Students, This year, for the first time in the history of the Technion, tutorials will be filmed. Specifically, Dudu's Sunday tutorials at 14:30 will be filmed live. You are all welcome to attend. Note that your questions, comments and jokes will be recorded. |
