Question 3 Appeals - Please Resubmit

Dear Students, We have reopened Question 3 appeals (Under HW - Exam A - Question 3 Appeals) so that everyone can submit in the required format. Please note, previous appeals on question 3 **will not be checked**. Several appeals were submitted incorrectly, so please read the following carefully. Appeals that do not follow the required format will not be checked. Your appeal must be submitted as a single ZIP file containing two PDFs: A scan of your original exam. Your typed appeal. Your appeal must be typed (handwritten appeals will not be accepted) and must include a typed copy of the specific code you are appealing on. Each answer you wish to appeal should be ordered by question number and follow this format: Question 3.1: My answer: "[your original answer]" Appeal: "[your reasoning]" Please also note: The deadline for resubmission is Monday, August 24, 12:00 (noon). When you submit an appeal, the entire question may be re-evaluated. Any mismatch between the code in your exam scan and the code in the "My answer" section will result in a grade of zero. Question 3 was graded on absolute correctness, not on a strict match with the official solution. The official solution has been updated, corrected and is available on the website. We are aware of the proximity to Moed B, we will make our best effort to review the resubmitted appeals as soon as possible. |

Except for extraordinary circumstances, most extension requests will be declined. Foreseen events such as holidays or make-up exams (Moed B) are not typically accepted as valid reasons for an extension. Regardless of whether you have an approved extension, you may still submit the assignment up to 5 days late. A penalty of 5 points per day (including partial days) will be deducted from your grade. Want to delay your Exercise 1 submission? Don't!

Regarding late submissions for Exercise 1: Please do not request extensions. Here is why: 1. We have already provided more time for Exercise 1 than in previous semesters. 2. To be fair to those who submit on time, the maximum possible grade will decrease for each day of delay. With very few exceptions (e.g., extended reserve duty), most of your colleagues manage similar challenges, such as Moed B exams and holidays. As a student, you are expected to plan your time accordingly. 3. Exercise 2 will be published immediately after the submission window for Exercise 1 closes. Completing Exercise 1 late will consume time that should be invested in Exercise 2. 4. The bonus part is optional. If you are facing time constraints, you do not have to aim for the maximum score. If you have already requested a submission extension and wish to withdraw your request, please contact the Teaching Assistant in charge as soon as possible. |

Skipping Tutorial 1

Due to the Spring 2026 semester being shortened by one week, we will skip Tutorial 1. You are expected to review the material for Recitation 1 (Introduction) independently. If you have any questions regarding this introductory content, you are welcome to attend any TA's office hours; please refer to the "Staff" tab to find the schedule for each TA. Our first in-person tutorial will begin with Recitation 2 (Processes). We assume that you have already reviewed the introductory material from Recitation 1 before attending. |
