Moed B final grades

Hi All, The final grades are now published. The formula used to claculte the final grade is: ExamB*1.075<51?ExamB*1.075:(ExamB*1.075<55?55:ExamA*1.075*0.65+((0.02*hw1_dry+0.02*hw2_dry+0.02*hw3_dry+0.02*hw4_dry+0.07* hw1_wet+0.07* hw2_wet_final+0.07*hw3_wet+0.06* hw4_wet)*1.075)) Explanations to the formula: (1) As you can see we gave a factor of 7.5% for all of the grade. (2) Whoever got less then 51 after adding the factor to the exam grade - got this grade and that is all. Those didn't pass the course. (3) Whoever after factor got above 51 (or 51), but still less then 55 - got 55 and that's all. No hw part addition - just passing the course. (4) All the rest got the factor of 7.5% for all of the grade. The exams will be passed for scanning tomorrow. Appealing: Please submit appeals to Anastasia's mail boxes on the fifth floor, by October 18-th (please do so earlier, if you can). Enclose a formal appeal form, and a copy of the *full* exam. Several notes: 1. Appeals without the formal appeal form or without the full exam attached will be automatically rejected (and we will not allow you to resubmit the appeal after the deadline). 2. We will not receive any appeal after 18.10. Even if your appeal was rejected due to a technical issues (see 1). 3. For the appeales we will recheck the whole exam. Pay attention that the grade may be decreased because of it. Therefore, before submitting an appeal: a. make sure that you will not loose points in other exam parts (in general we gave some points even for a partial answer. Hi All, We would like to emphasize that HW3 appeals deadline is at 8th of July at midnight. And you will not be able to appeal after that. We also would like to emphasize that appeals sessions are not debugging sessions! That means we will not accept complains that you have now no time to debug your code. You need not to debug it now (should have been done before submission). Appeals are for those who had minor problems (wrong file submitted, compilation problem, etc.) that caused most of the tests to fail (very low grade). This is possible to find quickly if you like. Hi All, It was found that in hw2 check, we had problems in some tests, thus we've rechecked all the works. The grades which are published as hw2_wet_final are those that will be considered in final grade. We took the higher grade among the old and the new grade. In order this problem doesn't happen again, from now we have made the tests to be reviewed by more TAs. In addition, those students who has grade less then 60 are still allowed to appeal until the exam. For this come to Greg's reception hours or arrange a meeting with him. This work is not easier then hw2 was, may be even little harder, so start to work on it asap. Hi All, Due to multiple requests we are postponing HW2 in 2 days. Now the due date is 04/05/2010 at 12:30 at noon. Groups with some of the partners with the following IDs: 39404439, 312346281 you have to submit on same date as all the rest. Everybody else who was not in miluim and was asking for postponement this is the postponement for you and all the rest. The first wet and dry assignments have been published. See the assignments section in the course website. Due date is Thursday 06/04, 12:30 noon. Submissions should be done in groups of three. You can use the find a partner section in the website. We recommend you to start working on the assignment ASAP. |

Let's try to help environment in this semester as well

Hi all, As in previous semester we would like to save the paper that is used for printing the code in our course. While we still want all the info about your wet HW to be available for us. So in this semester you are allowed not to print the code of the wet HWs if you want to. While all the external documentation and explanations about work that you have done, have to be printed and submitted to the course's box on time. Of course all your code and documentation have to be submitted electronically on time. - It doesn't mean we will not look on your code – we'll look on the soft copy - The change is only relevant for wet HWs - In any case when in doubt whether to print or not to print -> print. Make sure all needed information, notes, explanations are available for us - When printing your HWs do it on both sides of the paper Thanks, The Course Staff |

Hi All, We would like to emphasize the importance of reading the documents we publish on the site: 1. In 'Syllabus' section you can find the syllabus and regulations documents. It is really important to read them and see what are the policies of this course. 2. In section 'Assignment' you have the HW covers that you need to use and the Common Mistakes. Please read it and do not do any such mistakes - it all costs points. 3. And the last thing when writing email to the course staff - write it in English or write in Hebrew only in the attached file. Notice that you may lose points and the fact that you didn't know something or that in other courses the regulations are different will not help you to get them back. We are sure that the students in this semester are excellent and will do everything as accepted. We really want you to get the best grade - just do everything according to the rules. Several announcements

1. The new syllabus and HW regulations are available on the website (see the Syllabus section). Read carefully the HW regulations. If you have any question regarding it please feel free to contact us for clarifications. 2. In the Assignments section on the website you can find the cover page and the common mistakes. In addition we have uploaded a file with explanations about how to install some basic things in Linux (DDD, Eclipse etc). 3. On 08.03 we will hold special session in order to provide a demonstration of working with Linux OS. See the Events section. 4. The slides of the first lectures can be downloaded from the Material section on the website. Also pay attention that the tutorials on the first week will be held as usual. |
