Moed B grades have been published. A factor of 8 points was added to the exam grade: ExamBFactor = ExamB + 8Your final grade has also been published - it consists of: FinalB = 0.1*HW_Final+0.9*ExamBFactorThe exam scans should be available at the undergraduate website, early next week. Appeals procedure 1. It is your right to appeal your exam grade. 2. You cannot appeal on a single question or a part of the exam. During the appeal process the entire exam will checked. 3. Following an appeal the exam grade may be unchanged, raised or lowered ! 4. Cases in which you should not appeal: - You are not 100% convinced your answer is the right answer. - You think too many points were deducted (you cannot appeal the exam grade key). 5. The grades of Assignment #5 have been published. You can access them via your respective course site (234114 or 234117) by clicking on the grades button. Under the grades system you will find 3 columns: HW5_Wet, HW5_Dry and HW5 reflecting your automatic check, manual check and the final assignment grades respectfully. Automatic (Wet) check Under the Assignments section we have published the assignment statistics. This file includes the reason of your grade. Students may see the following error comments: - COMPILER-ERROR, means you had errors in the code that prevent compilation. - FAIL, means you did not pass one of the tests. This also appears in cases of bad submissions and compilation errors. - INF-LOOP, means your program failed the test as it did not finish in a reasonable time. This usually indicates an infinite loop. We have also included some statistics about the overall performance so you could compare yourself against the rest of your classmates. Your grade is in the range 0-100, relative to the number of tests you passed. You can find all the tests under the Assignment section in the hw5_tests.zip file. The automatic check was 80% of your final assignment grade. Manual (Dry) check Question #2 of this assignment was also checked manually to examine your code quality. The grade in this assignment was in a 0-20 range, and consisted as 20% of your final assignment grade. You can take your reviewed code from the papers return room next to the CS secretaries (should be available for all students tomorrow morning). The code was marked with comments and error code which you can decipher using the Manual Check Codes.pdf in the Assignments section. Hello all, Moed A will be held on Thursday 11/7, in Ulman building (floors 2+3). The exam is with closed material. All students should bring some form of ID (student card, driving license, ID) to the exam. Students with time extension are requested to bring their time extension confirmation to the exam. The exam will start exactly at 9:00. Students with time extension will start the exam at 8:30. Please make sure you come at least 15 minutes before the exam, so you will have time to find your test room. During the week before the exam, the course staff will hold rehearsal sessions in class as well as special reception hours. You are encouraged to take advantage of these opportunities and bring questions about material you do not 100% understand or from exams you have problem solving. Rehearsal sessions: - Thursday 4/7 at 9:30 in Taub 7 (Nachshon) - Sunday 7/7 at 15:30 in Taub 7 (Nadia) - Wednesday 10/7 at 13:30 in Taub 7 (Aviv) During these sessions we will answer students questions (material or exam). We will bring some of our own, but it's recommended you'll be the ones asking the questions. Students who want specific exam questions to be solved during these sessions are requested to email them in advance to the TAs. Some of you encountered a problem with the self-check website when checking your solution for Question #2. The following solution has been posted at the F.A.Q. section for HW5. Q: In Question #2, my program does not pass the self-check website tests - the site produces no output when I try to check it. A: Many of you use scanf("%c") (without white space before %c) or getchar() to read a character from the input, and then check whether it is a white space or a new line by comparing it to ' ' or '\n'. In order to overcome this problem, use scanf(" %c") (with white space before %c), to ignore white spaces in the input - see an explanation in Tutorial 4.

The grades of Assignment #2 have been published. You can access them via your respective course site (234114 or 234117) by clicking on the grades button. Under the Assignments section we have published the assignment statistics. This file includes the reason of your grade. Students may see the following error comments: - COMPILER-ERROR, means you had errors in the code that prevent compilation. - FAIL, means you did not pass one of the tests. This also appears in cases of bad submissions and compilation errors. - INF-LOOP, means your program failed the test as it did not finish in a reasonable time. This usually indicates an infinite loop. We have also included some statistics about the overall performance so you could compare yourself against the rest of your classmates. Appeals will be handled by Vered Cohen during the next week only (until Sunday 9/6/13), at her reception hours only (no emails). Please note that you cannot appeal the results of the automatic check if they are the result of an output error. The tests that were used in the check can be downloaded from the Assignment section. You must run the tests and understand them, before you appeal. Also, a document describing common mistakes can be downloaded from the Assignment #2 section. Please note that the following assignments (#4 and #5) will be checked manually, according to the tips given in the above document. |

During a routine status check of the submissions of homework #2 we've noticed that some students did not follow the submission rules as explained in the assignment description. - Make sure you submit a FLAT zip file. Meaning it should not contain any folders. - In the zip file you should have only 4 files: hw2q1.c, hw2q2.c, hw2q3.c and students.txt - You should NOT submit exe files. - Use ZIP! Not, 7z or RAR or any other archiving format. Please note that in the hw2.pdf we mistakenly asked you to submit c files named hw1qX.c - it of course should be hw2qX.c. If you noticed that the assignment you've already submitted does not follow these rules you can submit again before the assignment deadline. We will not accept appeals for failing to meet the assignment (and submission) instructions. |

In an effort to advance the quality of programming, problem solving, and homework self-testing we are opening an online tool that is designed to help you test your homework. We hope this tool will help you understand what is expected of you in the homework assignment and will result in higher software quality. After you finish writing your homework, you're welcome to enter the online self-hw-checking tool at http://csl1.cs.technion.ac.il/~cs234114/. At this site you should select the correct homework assignment and question and submit your respective hwXqY.c file. Your homework will be checked against a subset of the tests that we will use to grade your homework, after you submit it. You will then see a report stating how many tests you passed, and will also be able to see their inputs. You will not be able to see the outputs though (you should figure those by yourself). We hope this tool will give you a good idea about the state of your program. You are encouraged to keep on perfecting it, until you pass all the tests. Please note: - This tool does NOT replace the submission of your assignment via the course website. - During the final homework check, there may be more tests than those published in this tool. You should still make sure you adhere to the homework instructions and take care of all the possible corner-cases. - The site is still in it's beta version, and can be unstable at times. If you encounter site problems you're welcome to email Anastasia Dubrovina, together with a screenshot and explanation of the problem. - Failing to pass tests, does not count as a site problem. The first two books, "The C Programming Language" and "A Book on C" contain many examples and additional exercises (at the end of each section).
