Thecourse focuses on geometric computational methods and algorithms in imageand shape understanding. We investigate shape reconstruction, color imageenhancement and segmentation, edge finding,and efficient computation of symmetry axis, minimal geodesics, andinvariant signatures. We learn how to apply tools from mathematical morphology,differential geometry, metric geometry, numerical analysis, and calculus ofvariations to formulate and solve problems in computer vision, andshape analysis. Finally, we will relate to modern learning systems.
