Moed B Grades and appeals | |

Moed B exams have been graded and the grades are available on GR++. A 2 point factor has been applied to all exams. All students who took the exam will soon receive a mail with the grade breakdown, comments and so on. Note that the exam notebooks will contain no notes. A tentative solution is available as well under materials. Appeals and clarifications must be sent to Lior by mail only until October 20th. There is no need to fill out appeal forms. |

The style of the exam will be similar to moed A. The exam contains five questions: - one with four unrelated true/false questions for which some "evidence" also needs to be supplied - one with nine items, for each one the answer is a drawing, a number, short expression or true/false with evidence. One item is a code completion question (all about the same setup) - one with five items, for each one the answer is a number, a short expression or a short explanation (all about the same setup) - one with five true/false questions (no explanation required) - one where we plotted five things, and you have to tell us which plot is which (you saw something very similar during the course) |

The cover page of the exam has been added (in both languages) to the course site under materials->exams. The absolute, final deadline for late submissions is Thursday 10.7 at 12:00. Note, however, that any submission later than Monday, 7.7 may result in a large delay towards feeding the final grades. Any assignment submitted by this Sunday(29.06) will be guaranteed to be checked by the exam. Please note that any submission of HW4 later than this date may result in forfeiting the bonus part of the assignment(since only assignments checked may compete). I have been informed of a minor bug in the code that loads the data for question 3. A fixed version has been uploaded(line 113 commented out). -If you have already done question 3, please redo only section g and mention so in your submission. -please note the minor change in section e-f(600 epochs and not 200, it takes a bit more to see the effects). |

Hello, Homework 2 on SVM and kernels has been released. The due date is Tuesday, 6/5 at midnight, to offset the delay in release. For Clarification: You may do the wet parts of the assignment(marked "wet"), and only those wet parts, in pairs. The rest of the assignment should be solved individually(you may consult other students if you get stuck, but write your own solution). The first demo can be re-submitted without penalty until tomorrow at midnight. If the answer was recorded, you should get a response of "Already submitted". Second demonstration | |

The second demonstration is available and looks at the differences between train,test and true errors, the ERM rule, and the bounds we saw in class. The recommended submission is before 19/3, midnight. Please note that all demos can be submitted late for half credit, and since there will be 14 demos and only 10 points can be gained, it is not required you do them all on time. |

Possibility of English recitation | |

We are considering giving the 13:30 recitation (tirgul) in English. The 12:30 recitation, as well as the lectures, will remain in Hebrew. The English recitation will cover the exact same content as the Hebrew recitation (this will NOT be an English summary of the lecture---non-Hebrew speakers will still have to cover the lecture material independently). There will be no extensions to demo submissions | |

You are(always) allowed to submit a demo late and get half credit. There will be more than 10 demos(currently 14 planned), so you can be late on some and still get the full 10 points for the demos. Note that the first demo had an elongated deadline, and the second demo onwards will have a shorter ones. |

Hello all, The first demonstration is online at: http://wassist.cs.technion.ac.il/~cs236756/ (The link is also available under Links and Assignments) The submission date is 12/03. Normally the submission dates will be on Sundays. Lior's reception hour next week(Tuesday 11/03 13:00) will take place in room 018 inside the faculty farm and will be dedicated towards solving the first demo together. For now, an optional Python practice and some useful reading materials have been added. The practice is not meant for submission, but it is very recommended, especially if you don't have experience in Python programming. Feel free to ask questions about the practice if you need to.
