A +2 point factor was applies to all exams. The final grade was calculated using the following formula: if (factorA < 50)<br> return factorA; else return factorA - ( (HW > factorA ? -1 : 1) * sqrt( abs(HW - factorA) ) ); That is, if the homework grade is greater than the exam greade, the square root of the difference is added to the exam, and f it's less than the exam grade, it's subtracted from the exam grade. A solution to the exam will be published later this week. Please do not appeal without first looking at the exam solution. Appeal Procedure: Please fill an appeal form, put it in Boris's mailbox on the 5th floor, AND notify Boris by e-mail. The appeal deadline is 6/11. |

Grades are available online. Appeal policy is the same as in the previous assignments, after submitting a fix, your grade will start from 80. Also, those who received the b&b bonus will be allowed to keep it after submitting the fixed solution, but no new bonuses will be given. If you received a low grade, please don't be alarmed, and follow these steps: 1. Start by making the Store tests work. Bugs in comparing StoreItems or storing them in collections can cause the whole system to fail, and were fairly common. 2. Another common problem was treating collections of components as sets, rather than multi-sets. This can happen in various parts of the program, such as StoreItem or the main best-solution-finding algorithm. Go over your code and see if you did that somewhere. Deadline for appeals is 17/10 . Good luck in the appeal and in the exam, and if you need anything, you can ask me. I will be in the Technion most of this time, so I will be available for office hours. |

In this semester our officially recommended dialect of Smalltalk is Pharo. The tutorial slides say Squeak, but we recommend Pharo for writing the homework assignments and general exploration of the Smalltalk VM.
