Change in the final grade computation | |

Due to the current situation, we decided to change the weight of the HW assignments from 23% to 35%, where the new 12% will be a weighted average of the HW grade and will serve as MAGEN. That is, the final grade will be calculated as follows: MAX { 0.35 * X + 0.65 * EXAM , 0.23 * X + 0.77 * EXAM } Where EXAM is the grade of the exam, and X = (3/23 * dry1 + 6/23 * wet1 + 4/23 * dry2 + 6/23 * wet2 + 4/23 * dry3). Wet2 grades are published. The test files we used to check your code with (and their output) are on t2. The grade was calculated as follows: 50% dry part, 50% wet part, 5 points penalty for each day you were late. Students who got 0 for the wet part, got 0 for the whole exercise as well, even if they submitted a dry part. Appeals: Appeals for late submission penalty should be directed to Eitan (You may appeal by email). All other appeals should be directed to Roman. There was a small mistake in the example that I gave in the last clarification. The profit of the party has to be greater than the parameter 'money', so I changed the example to the following: Sell_activists(DS,i,14) and now it's OK. |

Wet2 clarification | |

In the function Sell_activists, the parameter 'money' indicates the wanted profit of the sale, and not the wanted budget of the party after the sale. For example, if party i has a budget 10 and 3 activists with costs 5,5,5, and we invoke Sell_activist(DS,i,14), then the party will sell all of the 3 activists. |

| The test files we used were illegal: they contained calls to Add_votes after Threshold. So, we tested your files again with new tests (which are on t2 as well). Your grade will be the maximum between the old and the new grade. |

Appeals: Appeals for late submission penalty should be directed to Amir. All other appeals should be directed to Roman during the following hours: Sunday 11/6 17:00-18:00 or Monday 12/6 17:00-18:00. If you can't attend these hours, set with Roman by mail another time, but note that he will not be available for a few weeks after the middle of next week. When you come to appeal, you must bring with you your dry part (including the printout of the code), and make sure that you know why your implementation failed our tests, and bring a corrected version of your code that compiles according to the instructions in the exercise. |

There seems to be a problem with submitting the wet part of wet1 in t2. This is some system issue, which we hope will be resolved tomorrow (Tuesday). So, the submission of the WET PART is delayed in 24 hours, until Wednesday at 12:30. The deadline for the DRY PART has not changed - it remains Tuesday at 12:30. 1) FAQ section is opened. Its content is obligatory, so check it frequently. 2) In 'Size' function - the order on the parties is the same as defined at the beginning of the exercise (right before Init). So, in the case of parties with the same number of votes, the order is the *decreasing* indexes order (not increasing as written by mistake). In general - whenever you need to decide an order between parties, you should use the order defined at the beginning. Amir |

This is the first official mail from the "Data Structures 1" (234218) course staff. Each student registered to the course, should get this mail. Those who didn't get it, are probably not registered, or are not on the mailing list. So, if you know about friends who take this course that did not get this mail, please inform them to register through the "Auto Update" feature appearing at the homepage. All the information you need appears at the course website at: http://webcourse.cs.technion.ac.il/234218. The course announcements, notifications, changes and etc. will be published on the web and through this mailing list. It's your responsibility to be updated and to check from time to time for new information posted on the web. Please make sure you read the course guidelines that appear in the info_sheet under the syllabus tab (will be online soon). The lecturs slides can be downloaded and printed from the site (under "course material") or obtained as a booklet at Beit Hastudent. In the recitations, we will teach with PowerPoint slides which also appear under "course material". Additional service that the course home page suggests is partner finding.
