A factor of 3 points were given (added to the exam raw grade), the final grade formula is as fllowing: finalB = Min((examB+3) < 55 ? (examB+3) : (HW_AVG<55*0.3 ? Details and guidelines for Moed B | |
| Dear students, Exam B will have the same structure and the same guidelines as Moed A. Here are the most important guidelines and information that was published for Moed A and still relevant for Moed B: Signing the exam declarations Please note that a new assignment was added under Assignments --> examB --> הצהרת טוהר בחינות וויתור סודיות that you must submit. Each one who intends to attend Moed B MUST submit this assignment, otherwise, you will not be able to be examined. Exam structure and details Please note that exam B will take 2.5 hours (please reserve 3-3.5 hours in case there will be some delays) as one part (and not two parts as we did last semester). The exam is with closed material, you are not allowed to bring any material, papers, or formula sheets with you to the exam except a calculator. There will be some minor calculations in some questions, so we urge you to bring your calculator to the exam. The exam is composited, as usual, of four questions, which all are mandatory. Some questions are opened questions that require a precise and concise explanation and some are multiple-choices (American) questions that require selecting the correct answer and explaining your choice. Exam files publication We will publish the exam on 8/3/2021 around 08:00 AM in the webcourse, under Assignments --> examB. The files will be encrypted and you will be given the password during the exam. Please download the exam files ahead to save downloading and server load issues. We have added a test file (under Assignments-->examB-->test_encrypted_file.7z) to check that you are capable to unzip/decrypt the exam, this file is password protected, the password is (including all characters): asd243rw..423 Please make sure that you can unzip this test file (we recommend using 7zip as we encrypt the files using it). If you don't succeed to unzip the file during the exam don't panic we have alternatives, if you encounter any issues with opening the exam, please inform the supervisor and we will give you an alternative. Teachers zoom room (during the exam) We will have a teachers' virtual room to handle any issue that you will have prior to the exam (e.g., you have no link for your exam room, you cannot connect to your exam room, etc...) Student ID. 3. The grounds for making the appeal. For every question you think you deserve more points, you need to clearly explain why you think so. | Dear students, HW1-wet grades and feedback are now available in the GR++ system. Tests and expected files can be found under assignments>HW1>HW1 Wet. Please note that your processed outputs (TEST.out.processed) were compared to the expected processed outputs (TEST.exp.processed). If you have no out files then your test was failed because the process was killed due to some error. If you got zero or did not get a grade, it's usually due to missing submission or code that did not compile (could be due to a faulty makefile or an incorrect zip file structure). | Dear students, Please note that HW1-dry, HW2-wet, and HW4-wet were graded. The feedback and grades were uploaded to the GR. Appeals: Appeals can be submitted under each assignment until 09/02/2021. Appeals with code resubmissions (only with minor changes) cost a 10-point reduction, and such appeals for submissions that received a grade above 90 will not be accepted. test-explanation files were added for HW2-wet and HW4-wet describing the tests we ran. HW2-wet note: Appeals can be submitted only if your wet grade is 0. If your submission's kernel build failed, you need to make changes in order to make the build succeed, and add an "appeal.txt" file to your submission explaining the changes you made. Appeals with changes that are aimed at fixing mistakes and/or bugs unrelated to building the kernel will not be accepted. We also published a file called "common_mistakes.txt" that lists some of the mistakes we saw that might have lead to the kernel build failing. Regards, -- course staff |

HW2 Dry Files | |
| Dear students, Just to make sure, HW2 dry part was published as a PDF file (and not a word one). A wrong word file was added, accidentally, to the webcourse couple days ago. This word file is, obviously, a wrong version of the dry part as it contains unrelated questions to the wet part. The word version were removed shortly after it was added. | Dear students, Changes in HW1: There are minor changes in HW1: - wet part: please note that "ls" is a built command and it has no arguments. The code samples were updated to include ls command with no arguments. - dry part: Question 2 subsection 4 has new instructions on how to answer the question. VM images are uploaded to karpef | |
| Dear students, Please note that we have uploaded the course VM images to karpef at: https://karpef.cs.technion.ac.il/index.php/s/YziNJADerStLio6 There are three images: 1) ubuntu18.7z: an image without desktop UI (i.e., with only shell). This image is the same as the one that was published in the webourse. 2) ubuntu18 (full img).7z: A full image with a XFCE desktop already installed. 3) ubuntu18-virtualbox.7z: An image for VirtualBox VM player. Please note that this image should be used by only those cannot run VMWare player for some reason. Notes: *) These images are the same as the images from previous semester. Students who are re-taking the course can use the VM image from the previous semester, Spring 2020. *) The images are supposed to be the same as the ones in ATAM, so you may use the same image for both courses. | Dear students, (1) Homework 0 is published and can be found in the "Assignments" section. Although HW0 is not for submission, you *must* complete it to acquire the tools and skills needed for the next home assignments. (2) There will be four home assignments this semester. Pease plan ahead; the deadlines are strict because we must finish all assignments before the semester ends. The assignments have not been published yet, but their expected publication dates and due dates can be found in the "Assignments" section. Please note that the expected publication and due dates are just "expected" dates and they may be changed slightly before publishing each homework if necessary. Group 21 tutorial is cancelled for tomorrow | |
| Dear students, Bahjat's tutorial (group 21) which is basically take place on Wednesdays at 10:30 will be cancelled for tomorrow 21/10/2020, and instead, Bahjat will make up for it (and deliver his first tutorial) on Monday 26.10.2020 at 9:30-11:30 (and his reception hour will be immediately after the tutorial).
