Projects day - 5/3 | |

Dear All, The projects presentations day is set to Tuesday, 5/3, 8:30-11:00, probably at Taub 401. Those of you who think they can't finish their project by then - please contact your POC and explain what is still missing, in order to discuss how to proceed (we will, however, acknowledge those that managed to stick to this tight schedule). In addition to a 20 minutes presentation on your project, detailing what you did, what worked, and what proved less fruitful, please prepare a copy of your report on the project (should be up to 5 pages, more in appendixes if necessary), and an electronic copy of your code in a self-contained form, on CD/DVD/Disk on key. Those who can't submit by that time are still expected to be in the presentations, to cheer and ask questions. Regards The course' staff |

Dear all, There is a recommended talk at 13:00 (Taub 337) today (27/1), by Maks Ovsjanikov on: Functional Maps: A Flexible Representation of Maps Between Shapes You are all more than welcome to join, The course staff Abstract: This talk discuss a representation of maps between pairs of 3D shapes (represented as triangle meshes) that generalizes the standard notion of a map to include correspondences that are not necessarily point-to-point. This representation is compact, and yet allows for efficient inference (shape matching) and enables a number of applications, including algebraic map manipulation such as computing map sums and differences. The key aspect of this representation is that many constraints on a map, including landmark correspondences, part preservation and operator commutativity become linear. This means, in particular, that shape matching can be phrased as a simple linear system of equations. I will describe the main properties of this representation and give a few examples of applications that include improving existing correspondence, segmentation transfer without establishing point-to-point matches and efficient map compression and visualization. |

Hi all, Please submit a description of the project you intend to do by the end of the semester (30/1). It should be around half a page long, describing what you're going to do in the project, relevant papers, and the main steps in the project. If you still don't have a project, pls contact the POC(s) for projects that you'd like to take as soon as possible, and verify with us that you can take this project and what are the expectations.
