Dry 1 Grades - Appeal Policy and Remarks *MUST READ*

Dear students, Dry 1 grades are now available. Appeal policy *WE WILL NOT REMIND AGAIN* During the course you may appeal on your homework grades by writing a concise appeal to the course's email. Appeals will be accepted for 3 consecutive days after the grades and feedbacks are published, and will lead to a renewed grading of the entire submission. Consequently, your grade may also decrease. Remarks: 1. You can't appeal on the amount of points you were deducted. 2. In your appeal you can argument relying solely on what you *submitted*, and not what you "meant". Best, Course staff. |

Dear students, Because last week's tutorials were postponed, we'll be holding make-up tutorials this week. Here's the schedule: Make-up tutorials (All held via Zoom) Monday 16:30 — Amit: Bias-Variance / Model Selection (No. 6) Wednesday 16:30 — Bana: Convex Optimization (No. 7). (Her regular Monday tutorial already covers Bias-Variance / Model Selection (No. 6), so the make-up moves ahead to No. 7.) Thursday 16:30 — Lotan: Convex Optimization (No. 7). (His regular Wednesday tutorial already covers Bias-Variance / Model Selection (No. 6), so the make-up moves ahead to No. 7.) Lectures Monday — Nir will teach Bias-Variance / Model Selection (No. 6), the lecture we missed last week. Wednesday 12:30 — A make-up lecture on Convex Optimization (No. 7) is tentatively planned. Dear students, Due the cancellation of the lecture on Monday we need to adjust the course schedule. First, the tutorials for this week are cancelled (Wednesday and Thursday). Wet HW1 - Data Exploration and Preparation

Dear students, Wet assignment 1 (out of 3) is now available in the assignment section. The submission date is 14.06.26 (23:59). Submission is in groups of 2 students. The assignment concentrates on data exploration and data preparation. All three wet assignments will handle the same data, so, the insights you will gain in this assignment will help you throughout the two other assignments. A few remarks: 1. Stay calm. There are many ways to tackle and solve this assignment. You are primarily assessed based on your report, reasoning, and explanations. 2. Don’t get stuck on the first questions, e.g., typing of columns. If you’re not sure, guess and then come back later after you have finished your analysis and become more informed. It is common in ML projects rerun the different parts of the notebook several times (one of the reasons we use jupyter). Best regards |

Important Announcements - MUST READ

Dear students, From now on, lectures and tutorials will be held on campus. Please note that moving forward, sessions will no longer be recorded. There are a few exceptions regarding location and this week's recordings: 1. Amit's Thursday tutorials will continue to be taught via Zoom for the rest of the semester. 2. Temporary Recording Exceptions (This week only): To allow students attending Moed B exams to catch up, we will record the following sessions just for this week: a. This week's lecture, although held on campus, will be recorded (if the classroom infrastructure allows it). b. Arkadi's Tuesday tutorial (Linear Classification) will be taught via Zoom and recorded. Starting next week, Arkadi will return to campus. Regarding Dry HW1: We extended the deadline to 20.05. Best |

The assignment will help you prepare for the course, both programmatically (in Python) and mathematically (probability, linear algebra, and calculus). This preparation is very important for the rest of the course. Note that the assignment seems longer than it actually is. Welcome to Introduction to ML!

Dear students, We are excited to begin the course! 1. The Probability and Numerical Algorithms prerequisites will be enforced at the beginning of the semester. If you don't have the prerequisite you will be removed from the course without prior warning. 2. Lectures: All lectures will be held via Zoom until further notice (as per the Technion regulations). The link can be found under the "Staff" section. 3. Tutorials: All tutorials will be held via Zoom until further notice (as per the Technion regulations). The link is the same one we use for reception hours (keep reading). 4. Recordings: While teaching remotely, all lectures and tutorials will be recorded and made available to you. Once we return to campus, we will stop recording. We provided links to lecture and tutorial recordings from previous semesters, yet caution is advised as they are outdated. The obligating material for the assignments and the exams is the one we will teach during the *current* semester, as our course is always evolving and susceptible to constant change. Note: We do not bear responsibility for any technical issues related to the recordings. 5. Written correspondence will be held only using the course email at u236756MLatgmail.com 6. The course is not based on a single book. We do offer some references to prominent literature in the syllabus, and we may refer to relevant chapters as the course progresses. 7. Course grading and assignments: - 74% exam (55+ to pass). - 3 wet programming assignments: 18% of final grade (mandatory, submitted in pairs only). - 4 dry assignments: 8% of final grade (mandatory, submitted individually). - See the syllabus for full details. 8. Students repeating the course: Can migrate the wet assignments' grades from the previous semester, but *must* redo the updated dry assignments. 9.
