Final grades
|
The grades for the course are now available. The exams will be in the mazkirut starting Sunday. The final grade includes a factor of 8 points on the exam, which already takes into account any possible strictness in grading that was (uniformly) applied in checking the exam. If you plan on taking the moed bet, please send an email to us as soon as possible announcing that. Best of luck in your future endeavors, that will surely include many aspects... --Course staff |

Tirgul hazara slides and comments
|
The slides of the tirgul hazara are now available. Comment on the Composition Filters example: The technical details, like the "declaration for type purposes", and the extra "condition" section in the superimposition are not important, they are unclear in the original as well. What is important is the understanding of the principle - the separate declaration of the filterinterface, and the connection of it to the needed places that is done by superimposition. Bank experiment in AOSD course

On April 6, the first hour is a regular lecture, and then there is a two-hour experiment in SSDL, as explained last week. Shmuel Below is a message from Tal and Irit ---------------------------------- Dear students, In your next lesson (April 6th), you will spend two hours performing an AOP exercise, in which you will be required to understand, and make some changes in an existing code. At the end of the assignment, you will be asked to spend a few minutes to answer a questionnaire. Unlike the usual case of exercises, where your performance is evaluated, this exercise is part of an experiment meant to evaluate and better understand the advantages and disadvantages of AOP (specifically, from a cognitive perspective). While you will not receive a grade for this task, we expect it to be very valuable to you in better understanding the problems and pitfalls that may exist when using AOP, and will no doubt help you prepare for the course's exam. As we said today in the class, there are two possible dates for the tutorial: 13/05 or 14/05. If you _cannot_ come on some of these dates, please send an e-mail to Emilia. Alternatively, if you prefer some of the dates, you can e-mail Emilia also, but please do state explicitly that this is your _preference_ and not constraint. The results of the democratic vote will be published on Wednesday, 26/03/08 (which means that you should vote till Tuesday evening). --Course staff. |

Comments - HW2

Here are several comments on the HW2 requirements and submission: 1. An aspect might be reusable even if it is not abstract - if its pointcut is general enough, and the parameters are sufficient to supply all the needed generality 2. If you wish to write an abstract aspect and do not remember how to do it, the slides of Lecture 2 might help you. 3. If you add any functionality to the base system (remember - you can not do arbitrary changes there!), please document all the changes you make both in comments and in an additional explanation file. Please also submit the whole Eclipse workspace in this case. Good luck, Course staff. |

Eclipse and AspectJ versions

These are the versions installed on the ssdl-lab computers: Eclipse: Eclipse 3.3.1 (from the file eclipse-SDK-3.3.1-win32.zip) AspectJ: (engine) aspectj-1.5.3.jar from http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/tools/aspectj/aspectj-1.5.3.jar (plug-in) ajdt_1.5_for_eclipse_3.3.zip from http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/tools/ajdt/33/update/ajdt_1.5_for_eclipse_3.3.zip It is recommended to work with these versions. Note that AspectJ doesn't support Java 6, so you should change the Java compiler compliance level to Java 5.0: Context menu on the project -> Properties -> Java Compiler At the top, check "Enable project specific settings" then set "Compiler compliance level:" to 5.0.
