Hi, 1.As you can see the course website is back (http://webcourse.cs.technion.ac.il/234218/Spring2003/ ). Grades can be viewed at: http://grades.cs.technion.ac.il. In any case of disagreement between the electronic version and the poster near the mazkirut the website's grade are the final ones. 2.The appealing deadline is till 26/10/03. Appeals should be submitted only in a formal appealing form (which can be taken in the secretary) with a copy of your exam to Benny's mail-box on the fifth floor. 3.Those of you who were approved (by Prof. Rivlin) to take Moed C will take it with the Summer-semester's Moed B on 23.10.2003. Moed B exam
|
The exam includes all the material that you have learned in the lectures/tutorials. It will be with open material. You can bring lectures and recitations brochures, books, your HWs and anything that is not an electronically equipment (calculator is allowed). The exam duration will probably be 2.5 hours with 5 open questions. The `I don't know' 20% bonus might be canceled (a clear guidelines will appear in the exam). The exam will take place on Tuesday, 23.9, 09:00 at Ulman 301-303. Moed A grades are published
|
Moed A grades are published as well as the final grades. Since the grades were rather low you were given a generous factor. Those of you who attended this exam as last semester's Moed C exam can see their grades on the previous semester website. A copy of your exam can be taken from the secretary. The appealing deadline is till 10/08/03. Appeals should be submitted only in a formal appealing form (which can be taken in the secretary) to Benny's mailbox on the 5th floor. On Sunday we will publish a solution sketch and some notes on common mistakes on the secretary's board. Please read it BEFORE you appeal, it might save your (and our) time. Appeals that will address points that were mentioned explicitly in this paper will be directed back to it. Hello, Wet grades are available online. There were 50% weight for both dry and wet checks. Dry average is 44/50. Wet average is 46/50. Hand Check Grading Key (50%): Your document was checked for clearity and correctness, the following are the common mistakes and gradings: you were supposed to mention and explain these subjects in your documentation: 1- factor(average) algorithm. 2- finding minimal key for a course algorithm. 3- Lecturers Database + explaination about hash type. 4- Courses Database. 5- Students Database. 1 or 2 missing - (-7). 3 missing - (-10) (explaination missing -5) using additional database in 2 (-15). using additional database in 2 but keeping Add_Course in its complexity (-9) implementing factor in O(n) - (-15). The automatic tests are available at the assignments part. I will hold 2 reception hours for appeals (for dry and wet) : Sunday 20/7 at 12:30-13:30 Thurseday 24/7 at 16:30-17:30. regards, Laurence |

1. If you dont get an answer for your question it might be for two reasons:- - the answer is written already in FAQ. - the answer exists in the Ex. So my advice to you read the Faq and Ex Well before sending mail. 2. You can call Factor as many times as u want, No Limit. and all calls count. Recitations changes for next month

Due to jonathan's Miluim the following recitations will be canceled: Recitation #12 (Sunday 10:30-11:30 Taub 5) on the 15/6, 22/6 will be cancelled. Recitation #23 (Wednesday 15:30-16:30 Taub 9) on the 28/5, 4/6, 11/6 will be cancelled. Those of you who usually participate in these recitations should go to one of the others recitations. Wet1 grades
|
You can see the grades in gr++. Under the assignments section you can find the four input files with which your programs were checked, called t1.txt, ..., t4.txt, and their respective outputs, a1.txt, ..., a4.txt, (when your programs were compiled with main1.c). Before you decide to appeal you should check your program's behaviour with these files (use diff). For each of the 4 tests the grade was calculated as follows: g = max(0, r - e / f) where g is the grade, e is the number of errors and f the total number of lines in the particular test, and r = 100 * (# lines before the program crashed / total # lines) (if your program did not crash r=100). The final wet grade is the average score on the four, scaled to (0,50). The students with the following id's did not submit documentation, or submitted a corrupted documentation file, and did not receive a grade. They should send the documentation to jnaor@cs immediately: 021749312 040166944 053011318 052806866 308998962 Final date for appeals (after you've checked your program's output on the supplied files) is 3/6. It is highly recommended to try to do so by thursday since I'm going to Miluim on sunday and your appeal will have to be handled by another TA. Jonathan |

Current grades for wet part in Wet1
|
In the file grades.txt in the Wet1 section under the assignments folder you can see the current grades for the wet part of Wet1. The maximum grade is 50 (since the dry part is 50 points). Your programs were run on 3 test files, each 1000 commands long, and one 10000 commands long. Most of the very low grades are the result of segmentation faults. We are publishing this temporary list in order to give you a chance to improve your grade. You can still resubmit your programs. Remember that there is a 5 point penalty for every additional day since sunday. Also, the last submission is the one that counts, even if it gives you a lower grade than a previous submission. On a final (and hopefully unnecessary) note, do not be tempted to try to improve your grade the easy way, by incorporating code that is not your own, as this will be checked for. |

Happy new semester

Happy new semester! This is the first official mail from the "Data Structures 1" course stuff. Each student registered to the course, should get this mail. If somebody doesn't get it, then he is most probably not registered. Anyway, if you know about some of your friends registered to the course, which didn't get this mail, please inform them to register through the "Auto Update" feature appearing at the homepage. All information you need, appears at http://webcourse.technion.ac.il/234218. The lectures' slides and recitations' slides can be downloaded and printed from the site or obtained at Mihlol store. Note that in order to match the material of the new lecture slides (by Dan Geiger), we changed the recitations order. We will not teach the recitations' material in the order that appears in the recitation brochure. The new order can be found under the recitation folder in the site. Also note that all announcements, notifications, changes and etc. will be published on the web and through this mailing list. It's your responsibility to be updated and to check from time to time for new information posted on the web. Additional service that the home page suggests is partner finding. Remember - one brain is good, but two are better. Thus, statistically, works submitted in pairs get higher grades. I wish luck to all of you in the upcoming semester, Benny. |
