It's in a folder in the FAQ page. Please read the message about question 1. Basically it says that you should use plain mathematical facts and not complex proofs or calculations. It's supposed to make it easier (and it's good to practice your intuition and not only your matlab skills...) Good luck. |

A mistake in HW4, question4 | |
|
Dear students, Question 4 deals with computation of multiple roots by N-R method. There is a mistake in coefficients of the function f(x), written in the exercise: this function has ho multiple roots. The exercise only makes sense if you use the correct coefficients (which appear in the fixed version of the exercise). You are not obliged to make this change, since it is two days before submission, but (a) this explains why your iterations converge so fast and (b) you will benefit from doing this exercise with the correct data. So, please substitute the correct numbers and re-run your code. Best, Yossi |

Dear students, There was an error in the definitions of question 2. Type 'single' holds 7 SIGNIFICANT digits, not decimal digits. I hope that you overcame it. Only section b depends on it (In section c, the error doesn't affect anything principal). If someone treated the type as 7 decimal digits (and gave a good answer upon that) it will be fully accepted. Sorry for the bother.. |

Dear Students. There is no late submission in the course. However, if you or your partner had miluim you receive an automatic extension equal to the length of the miluim. In case you need a postponement for another reason you should ask teaching assistant responsible for the homework. Please note that you must have a serious reason, e. g., having another homeworks and projects is not considered as a reason to postpone submission in numerical analysis. |
