Workshop on Logic in Computer Science and Combinatorics
The workshop details are here: http://cs.technion.ac.il/events/2016/2633/. Those who plan to attend should register here: https://goo.gl/forms/4k3myGgsRR4iEzBv2. Please register ASAP so that we can have a good estimate on the number of attendants.
No lecture today
Just a reminder that today (11/12) there is no lecture. I will see you next week.
Additional changes in paper assignments
As discussed in class, I have updated the schedule by basically pushing forward everything by one week.
Things to note:
- Next week (11/12) there is no lecture.
- On 25/12 we have both the seminar and the event in honor of Prof. Johann Makowsky;s retirement.
- On 01/01 there is no lecture.
Changes in Paper Assignments
I have made some changes in the paper assignments, mainly advancing by a week the lectures scheduled for week 7 and later.
Please take a look at the updated schedule and let me know if you have any difficulty with the new assignments.
Updates on Weekly Reports
- Due to the fire events and the evacuation, you are not required to submit the weekly reports this week.
- Starting next week, I will ask you to submit the reports through the GR system, so that I'll be able to provide you with proper feedback.
- If you are interested in an explanation on a grade of a report from past weeks, please ask me in person.
Graduate students - please find a topic for a 2-hour lecture presentation, and set up a meeting with me to discuss your idea, no later than the end of November.
Do not forget to send your weekly reports: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tjG2rqbe5hIzyti1KyJGsu2hr26noLWJlT3Hf2bTPpQ/edit#gid=500233572
Please take a look at the paper assignments in the link below, and let me know if you see any problem with your assignment (no assignment, double assignment, problematic date, etc.).
Papers for Week 2
On Sunday 06/11, we will have two paper presentations:
- A statistical learning method for logic programs with distribution semantics
- Efficient Query Evaluation on Probabilistic Databases
Preparation forms are due before Sunday 06/11. Please send these by email to me (bennyk@cs), in English.
Please send to me by email (bennyk@cs) a ranked list of 3 papers that you wish to present, by Thursday this week (03/11/2016).
If you are among the few who are already assigned papers in the paper list, or you are a graduate student, then you are excluded from this request.
If you have already sent me a request for a paper, then please extend your request to three papers.
Welcome to the 2016/17 seminar on Soft Logic in Computer Science.
This is the current list of papers to be presented by students at the seminar: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tjG2rqbe5hIzyti1KyJGsu2hr26noLWJlT3Hf2bTPpQ/edit?usp=sharing.
I may update the list from time to time. If you see there papers that you already know that you wish to talk about, please let me know by email (bennyk@cs). In particular, I am looking for speakers on papers about "Distributional Semantics" and "PDB" (Probabilistic Databases) for the first few weeks. I will make an effort to match the assignments to your desire, but I make no guarantees.
Finally, if you are aware of related papers that you wish to add to the list, please let me know.
