| Subjects for the final assignment and a correction for Question 6 | Hello everybody,
Subjects for the final assignments are now published under the Assignments tab.
The slides of the fast mutual exclusion (94-96) where updated, to correct a typo (in line 21). Unfortunately, a more fundamental mistake was found in this algorithm. Thus, question 6 was changed, and you are now asked to find a mistake (see a corrected version on the site). Thanks to the student who pointed out this error.
Note that next week there will be no lecture+recitation, and Hagit will not give a reception hour. In the following week, Monday is Yom Matkonet, so there will be no lecture+recitation as well.
We will meet again on April 30.

| HW1 - Postponment and a small clerification | Hello everyone,
Home assignment 1 was rescheduled to April 29th. This is a fairly long assignment, so please do not wait until the last minute with it.
In question 4, you should prove the lower bound on the number of read operations, not only to deduce the number of steps a process takes.
A corrected version is now on the site. Thanks to the students who drew my attention to it.

| No lecture after passover, home assignment and more | Hello everyone,
In the week after passover, there will be no lecture and no tutorial. Ami will give a reception hour as usual (Tuesday, 13:30).
The first home assignment is now published. It has the weight of two assignments, and is due in three weeks. Submission is in pairs.
Note that information about the final assignment was published, under the "assignments" tab. The final assignment should also be submitted in pairs.

| Lecture and recitation this week | Tomorrow, 2/4/2012, the lecture in the morning will be give by Ami in Room 6.
Its topic is "local-spin algorithms for mutex".
In the afternoon, Hagit will give the recitation on a long-lived splitter and its use in mutex.
The material is covered by new slides that have been posted. |
