Grades are in
Hi all,
The exam has been checked and graded. The grade of the final exam was computed using the following formula:

round((ExamA < 55) ? ExamA : 0.25*(SumBest(4,hw1,hw2,hw3,hw4,hw5)/4)+0.75*ExamA + 8)

Notice that 8 points were added to the final grade (for those who passed), the howework assignments (4 best out of 5) have 25% weight

The exams are available at the secreteriat for copying. Appeals may be submitted in the usual way to Ilan's mbox (#117 in 5th floor)
BY Thursday, 2.3.06

If you haven't submitted HW5 yet, you are obliged to do so ASAP!

HW #4 note
A small note on analyzing MLE (which you are supposed to do in both questions).
The simplest way (usually) to go at it is to do the following:
1. Calculate the log of the likelihood function
2. Find extreme points of the log-likelihood function by studying the behaviour of the derivative in the feasible interval for the parameters
3. Checking the boundry-points of the feasible interval

We did this for several examples in class. You are advised to follow this scheme when answering the questions. Of course, any other correct scheme is welcome as-well.

If you need an extension in the deadline, contact Ilan (ilangrcs.technion.ac.il)
