| Home exam |
Here are some reminders about the upcoming home exam.
- The home exam will start on Monday, 13 June 2011, right after the last lecture in the course. The questionnaires will be handed, in person, in Artyom's office (Taub 638). The exam will end on Thursday, 16 June 2011, at 16:30. The answer sheets should be handed to Artyom by that time.
- The material for the exam includes everything that was taught in the course, including the material of the upcoming lecture on 06 June 2011.
- Please note that a MOED B in this course will be held only upon request, and, if held, will take the form of a regular (class) exam. Students who decide that they want to take a MOED B in this course should notify Ronny or Artyom by e-mail no later than 26 August 2011.

| Chapter 5 | In the next lecture on 02 May 2011, we wll go over Section 4.3 and then start Chapter 5. Therefore, please have a copy of this chapter with you in class.
Here is also a road map to some of the concepts covered during the make-up lecture of 27 April 2011:
- The material on anticipation ("הטרמה") can be found in Section 2.2.2.
- Theorem 4.3 is essentially the Shannon Coding Theorem presented in class, of the existence of (S^t,n^t)-block encoders for some t whenever log n < cap(S). The proof was given in class in more detail.
- The transformation that was shown from (S^t,n^t)-block encoders to (S,n)-encoders is a special case of Problem 4.3 (Moore co-forms are explained in Section 2.2.7).

| Location of the make-up lecture, and more | First, for those who missed class on 4 April 2011: we finished Section 3.3.2 and started Section 3.3.3 by stating Theorem 3.11 (Perron-Frobenius Theorem). The proof -- on pages 82-83 -- was skipped and is not a required material in the course. We will start next week with Proposition 3.12.
Secondly, this is reminder that there will be a make-up lecture on 27 April 2011 at 14:30. It will take place in Seminar Room 201 in Taub Building. |
