| Moed A Recheck | As some of you may have noticed, Q2 in Moed A was rechecked. No points were deducted.
The criteria for a full answer was that the example be self-contained. For instance, an example that showed that 17 < Skolem0 < 17, but did not define (axiomatically) that "(x < 17) -> !(17 < x)", did not receive full marks.

| Clarification on HW Grades | The following formula was used to calculate the HW grade:
If Project2 > Project1:
Dry1 + Dry2 + 0.24*Project2 + 0.14*Project1
Else:
Dry1 + Dry2 + 0.20*Project1 + 0.18*Project2
A total of 40 points, excluding bonuses. |

For all those who are less fluent in Java, you need not worry; the exam will not assume this specific implementation.

| Research Project #2 - Submission Guidelines | Dear Students,
For RP2 - please make sure you follow the following submission guidelines:
1. Submit a "names.txt" file with your code, in which your names and email addresses are written (this is in order for me to be able to communicate with you in case of compilation or other software errors).
2. Make sure to include a description of all the elements of the algorithms you use that are not trivial (e.g. elements of Star-1 that are not specifically described in the HW paper or in the referenced article, or your changes to the algorithm as described in the HW/article).
3. Make sure your code compiles on T2/TX even if you developed it using another Linux/Unix based system.
Regards,
Haggai |

| Research Project #1 Grades Published | Dear Students,
The grades of research project #1 are published.
Students with IDs 300667797 and 310560447 (or their partners) - please contact Haggai ASAP.
Appeals may be submitted to the course box on floor 1 by Dec 23rd night.
You may want to set a meeting with Haggai beforehand, for clarifications.
The works were generally good, but many suffered from insufficient analysis of the results.
A document describing common mistakes is now published in the assignments section under Research Project #1. Please read it carefully (even if you got a high grade on RP1) and use it as an input for Research Project #2.
As the main problem of the majority of the students who got low grades was result analysis, we are willing to give you a chance to improve your grade.
You may submit a correction of up to 2 pages for the results analysis section by Dec 23rd night. Attach your correction to the original work you submitted (not a reprint of it) and submit it to the course box on floor 1.
This correction (if done correctly) may raise your grade by up to 10 points. You can see the results analysis score on the last page you submitted.
Please note that only corrections to the results analysis will be counted towards raising your grade. If you got -5 points penalty for this section - you can raise your grade by up to 5 points.
Also note that this correction cannot be used as an excuse for extending the deadline of RP2.
As with appeals, you may want to set a meeting with Haggai beforehand, for clarifications.

| Research Project #2 Published | Dear Students,
Research project #2 (Games: Senet) has been published.
The due date is Dec 30th.
You will design and implement a player for Senet, an ancient two player game based on strategy and chance, and perform research on your player's qualities.
Also, a tournament among all the submitted players will be conducted - with bonuses for the winners!
This exercise requires quite a lot of work and so it is recommended you start working on it as soon as possible.
Haggai is the TA in charge of this exercise.
For all questions, including requests for extensions due to reserve duty or illness - contact Haggai only.
Good luck!

| Running Experiments in Java | Many of you are running your experiments in Java, so here's a useful tip:
Instead of running the program from Eclipse (or your favourite IDE), try running it from the command line.
In addition, using the "-server" option should speed up your performance.
For example:
java -server -jar MyExperiment.jar |
