| summer crash course on FPGA programming | Dear OSE students,
In http://goo.gl/gyQkG you can find the syllabus of a 1-week crash
course that will take place during the summer and will teach students
to work with FPGAs (field-programmable gate arrays). Roughly speaking,
an FPGA allows you to design, implement, and deploy your own chip,
exclusively using software. As programming FPGAs can be *very* hard,
this course specifically focuses on Bluespec, a high level synthesis
language that makes FPGAs much easier to work with and ensures that
the work is portable across different platforms.
FPGAs nowadays constitute an extremely hot topic in industry as well
as in academic systems research, so the course is highly recommended.
In order to register, please submit the relevant form to Keren from
the Mazkirut of EE no later than Thursday, July 12, 2012. Note that
the number of participants is limited to 25 students due to the
limited availability of the relevant hardware.

| Recitation update | Starting Sunday, April 29th, we will not hold any more frontal recitations. Instead, Either Ilia or Muli will hold office hours every Sunday from 10:30-12:30. | Lab #3 deadline is postponed | Due to popular requests, we are postponing Lab #3's deadline by one week so that you can choose not to work during Passover. The new deadline is 25/4; no further extensions will be given.
Note: Lab #4 will be published on 18/4 as planned and will be due two weeks later. You should complete Lab #3 before the 18th if at all possible to make sure you have sufficient time for lab #4.

| Recitation 2 and Lecture 3 | Due to Ilia's mistake today recitation started late. Since some students have left before the recitation started, Ilia will re-run recitation 2 on the next week during a lecture time -- at 10:30-12:30 on Wed, March 28 in Taub 3.
The material is generic enough, so moving the lesson by 10 days should not affect your ability to do labs.
Those who attended today class, but feel they may benefit from the rehearsal, are welcome to attend the re-run as well. |
