Moed A appeals
The scanned exams should be available online, for any technical problem with the scans, please contact the secretaries.
Appeals should be submitted to Hila by email no later than 21/07/2017.
Please follow the bellow guidelines:
1. Please state the question you appeal on and the reason for the appeal.
2. Appeals should be made only in the case where the answer was correct, but points were reduced. Appeals about the number of points that were reduced for partial answers will not be accepted.
3. Mark the part where you say why your grade is wrong and add this as picture to the mail.
4. We sometime recheck the whole exam. Note that your grade may decrease due to this overall evaluation.
In addition, by popular demand, we have extended the HW5 appeals and resubmission period to 3.8.17.
Moed A and HW5 grades
Moed A grades have been published. One section of question 2 was thrown out, and an additional 8 points factor was given. Homework was included for exam grades over 50.
Homework weights are 2 points for HW1, 6 for HW4 and 12 for HW5. Homeworks 2 and 3 are 5% magen together.
Your scans should be available online soon, which will begin the appeals period.
Tests for hw5 will be up shortly, and you may appeal or resubmit hw5 until 21/7. The resubmission policy will be identical to that of HW4 with resubmission by email to Hila.
Course material survey
Now that the semester is over, and you're going over the material, we would appreciate it if those of you who attended lessons and tutorials could fill in the following survey on the topics learned in this course:
It will take a few minutes and help us improve the course.
Next year's course staff (and students) thank you.
Exam and formula sheet
As some of you have been asking, we remind you: the exam is with closed material. A formula sheet will be provided for you, and it is available on the website under "course material".
Complementary tutorial for Avner's group + T13 files update
As selected, the complementary tutorial will take place on wednesday 28.6 at 17:30 in Taub 4.
This tutorial will be tutorial 13 (exam questions), and its files were updated in the course site.
For those of you who cannot attend, this tutorial will be taught in other groups starting thursday 29.6.
Complementary tutorial for Avner's group - updated poll link.
----link to poll was updated----
Avner will hold a complementary tutorial for his group next week.
Since wednesday at 12:30 is the faculty's end of the year party, a poll has been opened to select an alternative time and date for this tutorial: https://doodle.com/poll/abud6h4xna2yfwxs
Please select all of the possible dates that you can attend. The poll will close on sunday (25.6) at 10:00.
This tutorial will be tutorial 13 (exam questions). For those of you who cannot attend at any of the dates, this tutorial will be taught in other groups starting thursday 29.6.
HW4 grades are posted.
Appeals and resubmissions will be accepted until Thursday, 29/6.
The protocol for resubmission is as follows:
1. Resubmit by email to hila.
2. The fine for resubmission is determined by diff from your checked submission.
2.1. The first 4 lines are 10 points.
2.2. Any additional line is 3 points.
3. Bonuses are not checked upon resubmission.
HW4 tests have been published
We have published the tests for hw4 under homework.
The grades are still upcoming, but you can already look at the tests and start checking yourselves and anything that needs fixing for hw5. Anyone who wishes to resubmit hw4 (for a fee) will be able to do so once we publish the grades. We will publish full instructions then.
Note that we threw out two tests that are still included in the zip. There seems to have been a course-wide confusion as to the expected output. However, you should check whether your difference is in the output alone or whether you are missing out on the requirement they test.
EDIT: we have updated the zip with a second set of possible results for bonus1 tests.
Hila's office hours this week and next week
Hila will hold an office hour on Tuesday 20/6 at 16:30 in Taub 3.
Next week (27/6) there will be no office hour on Tuesday, a makeup office hour will be held on Thursday instead.
More tests for hw5
At your request, two more tests for hw5 are up.
Please note that your code is expected to pass all tests that we publish.
HW5 is posted
Homework 5 is up. We urge you very, *very* sincerely to get started as soon as you can.
Since you will be carrying over your code from hw4, we will post the tests for hw4 as soon as all miluim extensions have submitted so that you can correct any errors you have. While this is still a few days away, we still recommend you start working on the requirements for HW5 and don't wait.
For any of you submitting late by choice, please take note that once the tests are published you will no longer be able to submit.
additional test file
By popular demand, we have uploaded a test file that will let you test yourselves for correct prints in the case of an error.
As some of you have noticed, t2 has been closed to access only from within the Technion network. However, we ask that you still check your assignments on it since it is the only server that has the correct versions of all tools. (csl2 DOES NOT.)
Since we do not expect you to move into the farm (air conditioned though it may be) we remind you that you can tunnel through to t2 to keep working on it from anywhere:
1. ssh into csl2. It is still available from outside. You are now inside the technion network and should get a ping from t2.
2. Now ssh again to t2 from the command line: ssh
3. Solve hw4
Note that if you're copying files with scp, you need to repeat this process by scping them first to csl2 and from there to t2.
And as always, we remind you to read the homework's FAQ for clarifications, hints, and any other updates.
Homework 4 - revised file uploaded
There has been an error in example code on pages 4 and 5 of hw4. It has been corrected and a new file has been uploaded. Please refresh your PDFs.
Homework #3 grades were published
will be returned to the secretaries after Shavuot.
HW4 is published
HW4 (Bison and semantic checks) is posted.
We have given a few extra days to this assignment since we know many of you are studying for the numerical analysis exam. It will be due 12/6.
Error in lecture slides
There is a long-running error in the lecture slides: in Ohad's slides, lecture 4, slide 57, and in the video, lecture 7 at ~42min it is stated that any grammar with an epsilon rule cannot be LR(0). This, as a *general* rule is incorrect, for instance the grammar
S -> epsilon
is LR(0), and so is the grammar
S -> aAB
A -> epsilon
B -> a | b
While epsilon rules often are a problem in LR grammars, they are not always a problem in LR(0), and we cannot know without checking.
We will correct the slide.
Makeup class for group 11 (Tuesdays)
On 23/5 at 8:30am there will be a makeup class for Michal's group making up the class cancelled the first week of the semester. The material will be T7 (followed by T8 at the regular hour).
If you cannot make it, you can attend one of the other groups when they cover this material: 11/5 or 17/5.

Tests have been published (under the assignment) and appeals will be accepted until 26/4 by email only to Hila
Homework #2 was published
Submission is in pairs only.
Avner's Office hour today is moved to 17:30
Avner's Office hour today is moved to 17:30 (instead of 14:30). This is a one-time change.
FAQ for HW1
We have started an FAQ for homework 1. It includes some answers to questions that come up, and a link to a regex debugger that might help you out.
We also remind you to look through the flex manual for things that will make this homework easier (even easy) and to only email questions about the homework to Hila.
Following a few events that happened last semester,
we want to remind you that we are using sophisticated tools and programs to detect similarities.
Copying HW exercises will be handled VERY seriously.
Homework 1 is published, homework schedule
