| How to become a botnet operator in 7 easy steps - Guest lecture 25-1-2011 | It is no secret that Trojans are proliferating. We often hear and read about the likes of Zeus, Spyeye, Nimkey and other Trojans and their capabilities. Sometimes an article may disclose some screenshots or describe what a Trojan is capable of.
In this session we will experience this in first hand! The session includes a unique look into the Trojan mastermind’s space – we will have a full live Spyeye backend server running! We will go through all the steps it takes to deploy a botnet – from purchasing a Trojan to configuring, distributing and managing the flow of credentials. We will experience both the victim’s point of view as well as have a live demo of the back end management console of the Trojan.
In addition, the demo will include a brief as to how to write HTML injection code (and of course – how this is reflected on an infected computer), how to change the Trojan’s signature, how to update your botnet and many more topics. We will summarize with operation steps of how we can combat this threat and secure authentication and transactions.
Lecturer: Etay Maor

| HW3 postponed + clarification | As the next assignment is planned to be a bit shorter in length and due to students' requests - we have decided to postpone HW3 to Thursday 5/1/12 (at 23:55).
Regarding question 1, subsection d - note that you are assuming that the attacker can impersonate one of the parties on the network level, not that he can magically attack the altered EKE.
Happy new civil year,
