| Correction of mistake in the previous announcement (Clarification regarding Q1 of ExamA) | The last paragraph of the previous message about Question 1 was wrong. There was a typo in the end. The word "indifferent" should have been replaced with "not indifferent".
After fixing this typo, the last claim turned wrong. Please, re-read the 2 last paragraphs of the previous announcement - we corrected the mistake there.
The mistake and its correction, however, does not affect the correctness of answer of Question 1. |

| Clarification regarding Q1 of ExamA | Is that gate indifferent?
We wish to clarify some issues concerning Question 1 of MOED A.
First, the property of indifferent is absolute and has nothing to do with people.
In other words, assume that two persons refer to the same gate; one says that the gate is indifferent and the other says that the gate is not indifferent. Then, one of these persons is wrong.
This contrasts another property studied in our course -- the validity (TKEFOT) of a signal.
The validity property is subjective and relate to what one know about the relevant system.
In other words, two persons may refer to the same signal, at the same time point; one says that the signal is valid and the other says that the signal is not valid. It may well be that BOTH persons are correct. This may happen when one person know more about the relevant system.
E.g., he may know the contamination delays of the gates.
Returning to question 1. The gate in question may be either indifferent or not indifferent.
Namely, under the given delays, the signal OUT may either be stable forever (on 1) or
have hazards (or glitches).
Consider, for example, what happen when the input IN raises. This leads to the following two events that happens at the inputs of the OR gate:
Event A: the upper input raises.
Event B: the lower input falls.
If event B happens (significantly) before event A then the signal OUT will fall.
However, the delays given in the question do not force event B to happen before event A.
In fact, event B can happen 2ns AFTER event A.
Note that the given delays are critical in Question 1. Another set of given delays and a given upper bound on the transition time of the IN signal can force, in the above scenario, the input of the OR gate to be stable on (0,0) for enough time. This will guarantee that the gate is not indifferent.
The correct claim can be verified via a "valid vs. invalid diagram" (DIAGRAMAT VADAOT VE EIVADAOT) of a certain type.

| Fast Arithmetics | Dear Students,
The subject of the tutorials of the last week of the semester is Fast Arithmetics. We suggest you to read the file spr2005-6.pdf of the lecture notes before you come to a tutorial. The tutorial will be based on the top of it.
Fast Arithmetics will not be taught in Prof. Ami Litman’s lecture. Only Dr. Ronit Nossenson will teach it in her lecture on Thursday 21-Jan-10, at 10:30 @ Taub 7. So, we recommend to those, who usually attend the Monday lectures and wish to hear the lecture about Fast Arithmetics, attending both lectures on Monday and Thursday (in addition to reading the lecture note mentioned above).

| HW#3 - additional postponement until Tue 05-Jan-2010 noon | Dear, Students,
The problem related to the 3d action mode (ofen peula 3) is pretty well covered in the tutorial (for example spr05-tut-06.pdf), but has had no coverage in the lectures. We mean a barrier (usually implemented with an indiffirent MUX) protecting the controller against non-logical values amidst a long-lasting calculation. Soon the appropriate lecture note will address the issue, as well.
Meanwhile, we put the due date off untl Tuesday 05-Jan-2010 noon (12:00). This postponement does not affect the just published assignment 4.

| Complimentary Tutorial - Important | Dear Students,
We need give you a complimentary tutorial because we lag behind the schedule. We want to avoid doing so during the last week of the semester. So we’ll give the same complimentary tutorial in 4 close dates:
Wednesday Dec 30 at 12:30 (all-Technion complimentary hour)
Thursday Dec 31 at 12:30 (right after a lecture)
Sunday Jan 3 at 16:30 (facultative complimentary hour)
Monday Jan 4 at 8:30
The locations will be announced later. There is a small chance that some of the announced dates might get changed (if no location is found). If you usually attend the Sunday tutorial group (#11) you should consider only two first options. Students of the rest of the groups may choose any date which suits them most of all regardless whether they have already studied pipeline or not.
Before you attend a complimentary tutorial you MUST read spr05-tut-10.pdf which can be found under the material of 10th tutorial. We’ll not explain much of its content, but it will be a base for the complimentary tutorials. The subject of the complimentary tutorials is “MIPS Structure” - 234262 - tutorial 11.ppt.
Of course, the regular tutorial classes will take place as usually.

| HW#3: Mistake corrected & Postponement until Thursday Dec 31 noon | Same mistake was corrected in the last 2 questions of the 3d assignment: the original system works according to the action mode #2 (not 1 as it was previously written). The mistake is now corrected.
Due to that mistake we postpone the submission by 46 hours. The new due date is next Thursday December 31 at 12:00 (noon). This postponement will cover additional mistakes if they are discovered.
