## Appeals | |

Hi, The appeals will be returned tomorrow to the secretariat (MAZCIRUTH). |

21/8/2005, 16:36:46 |

## As promissed - a note on Part A, question 2

Please read this carefully before you hand in an appeal for question 2 in part A: In general, the marking scheme for question 2 consists of two parts: 1. The general proof plan (4 points): here you should clearly and formally state what is your proof plan. For example, a possible solution is by reliance on Theorem 2 .5 part 'c' or 'e' (as numbered in the exam form). In the case of part 'c', for instance, one should clearly state that in order to prove that G' is a directed tree, it is sufficient to prove that the degrees condition holds and that V_0 is a root. If the proof plan is not clearly and formally stated you should lose 4 points. 2. The core of the proof (8 points): Depending on your proof plan, your solution is likely to include a core part, which is, in most cases, one of the following claims: (i) V_0 is a root; (ii) The underlying graph of G' is connected; or (iii) G' does not contain cycles. The proof of any such claim should be formal and complete. In most cases If your proof of this core part is not absolutely complete and formal you should lose the 8 points. |

## Grades for MOED A published

A factor of +13 points was applied. Those who didn't fill the homework requirement got 5 points less. A solution for the test was published. Some notes regarding the checking: - Part A Item 1f. We didn't take off points on the following wrong answer (with 8 instead of 16): g(n) = 2n g(n-1) + (n choose 2)8 g(n-2) - Part B Item 1c. We didn't take off points on the following wrong answer (with n instead of (n-1) in the exponent): (n-1)! 2^n - Regarding Part A item 2: we will soon post yet another note. Appeals should be submitted until 17/8 using a standard form to the course's box only. Only formal appeals will be considered. The appeals will be handled a week later. Note that appeals could lower your final grade! For more information, check this page. |
